The Walt Disney Company announced on Tuesday that it is purchasing Lucasfilm in a stock and cash purchase valued at $4.05 billion. The deal includes plans for Star Wars: Episode VII, which is in early development, aiming for release in 2015.

Don't let Lucas direct, ban his bad ideas (e.g. Jar Jar Binks) and we could end up with with some good movies again.

I thought the back-and-forth with the "love story" between Padme and Anakin was total horseshit. What a fucking pussy. What a complete and utter bitch-boy he was! She immasculated him at every turn and he walked around half the time looking wounded and sullen and the other half of the time he was hot-dogging around like a 13 year-old showing off. RUBBISH!

Now, I'm not calling bullshit on your opinion that the flick kicked total ass. Because frankly, the special effects were fucking amazing, the fight between Palpatine and Yoda (I feel) bested some of the greatest standoffs of modern, special-effects-laden cinema- like Morpheus and Neo's duel in the Matrix (awesome scene in it's own right), and other such details YES, they did indeed kick ass.

But COMETHEFUCK ON! I'm a Jiu Jitsu white belt and I could have kicked Anakin/Vader's ass! Anakin/Vader with no cock and balls equals faggotry.

I grew up looking up to Darth Vader. That bullshit ruined it for me.

To play Devil's (Disney's) Advocate...Lucas was fuckin' up, Disney can't do much worse....and most of the Marvel films have been pretty good since Disney took over. My initial reaction was a big 'smh' but who knows? It could revive SW.

Exactly, the franchise is in the toilet, no reason not to try to resuscitate it.

Pixar did fine after Disney acquired it and the Marvel films have pretty much all rocked.

Some of the books after Episode VI have been fine - lots of characters to include. I could imagine it being like the Star Trek or Bond series where you get a new film every 2-3 years forever, none particularly memorable but all financially viable.

Agree with all of it. Ep. 2 and 3 were a visual treat with a neat story line, but the greatest film villain of all time was emasculated before our eyes. The dialogue, as usual, was also terrible.
