As for me; I'm good on firearms. At least the ones everyone is paying three times retail for. Same for ammo. I'm stocked up. There are a couple of things I wanted before everyone lost their minds, but I can wait things out or do without if things get really bad politically.

I've been selling and trading my stash of MGPUL PMAGS for double or tripple the number of new USGI AR15Mags and specific AK47 mags. A friend of mine used to sell firearm related accessories and I used to be able to get PMAGS $9 a mag. So I have a stash of them for just in case. Well just in case just hit and I'm cleaning up.

Dumb ass "hi speed wantabees" and "mall ninjas" love them PMAGS. Nothing against the company or product, but they are no better or no worse than USGI AR mags with antitilit followers. I laugh every time some dumb ass tard trades double the number of USGI mags or Ak mags for one of my PMAGS. Or better yet, pays me $40-50 a mag, when USGI AR mags can be found for $25-30 a mag.

The only thing that really hurt was I was in the middle of an AR 10 build and parts have all dried up for the next 6 months or so.

Firearms training?

Carbine training

0-300 meter-Reflexive fire training from all positions, always with movement, with immediate action drills, and transition to handgun.


Long rifle training

200-800 meter target shooting at targets with unknown distances. 50/50 work using traditional long distance range and windbags calculation and Plain old guesstimating.


None of this is high speed, just the basics taught to any soldier. Like everything, mastery of a subject is more about internalizing the basics from a conscious to subconscious level. This requires lots of practice.

My bro-in-law and his son (perpetual part-time college student, waiter, living at home), both went out and bought AR-15s because, hey, even though neither have shot before, hunted significantly, or served in the military, it seemed like the cool thing to do. My bro-in-law excitedly told me how he was going to "deck it out!" with all sorts of accessories he has no idea how to use, including a bipod in case he decides to hit the prone all of a sudden?

AR15s are the crossfit of weaponry.

I've bought nothing but someone I know has done OK simply connecting people who want to sell their "assault weapon" with a dealer he knows who turns around and sells it at a very generous profit.

It's a real life look at the law of unintended consequences. Gun grabbers want these guns gone and their rhetoric has them jumping off the shelves putting more than ever on the street.

Annual requal next week with 9mm and AR-15.

Still researching concealed carry options.

Around here even prices on basic rifles and shotguns have gone up by ridiculous amounts.

I was okay on ammo and magazines prior to the shit going crazy. I'm sad that I didn't buy the Colt 6720 I was looking at a couple of weeks before Newtown for $995 - in my mind I was saying it would be a nice toy to add but I already have two solid ARs.

Since Newtown I've only purchased an Advantage Arms .22 conversion for my Gen2 Glock 22. I don't care for .40 and my stash of ammo in that caliber is almost gone., so I'm leaving the AA kit on as a dedicated .22 Glock trainer.

Also got a Saiga-12 Arsenal conversion from my father for Christmas, but I'm probably just going to leave it be and see if prices go nuts.

I forget to mention-- even the GSG 5 prices were up significantly, and from what I could see selling well.

I applied for a concealed carry permit and bought a glock 27.

Bought nothing but with ammo prices on the upswing for the next little while I figured I'd be better off practicing more w/ .22 rather than 9mm. I had 2 .22 pistols that I fucking hated. One was a browning buckmark the other a ruger mkIII. I detested both of them because of the takedown and reassembly procedures. Swapped em out yesterday for a S&W M&P .22 Takedown and reassembly are simple and it shoots like a dream. Every time I go into a gun store there is some conspiracy theorist going on about how we are nanoseconds away from all guns being banned etc. This is such a constant at such establishments that I wonder if the owners pay guys to hang out there and spout that nonsense. Either that or some people have nothing better to do than hang out in gun stores.

Just flints for my musket, and a new powder horn.

Seriously, nothing until the political storm blows over. But I wouldn't mind picking up a Ruger 10/22 for fun target shooting.

The only gun-related purchases I've made since the summer, when I bought a Springfield EMP and accessories, have been ammo and range time. Echoing Sandman, I'm taking a .22 next time I go to the range.

Btw, PL54, I've come to love my EMP for concealed carry.

Who shoots an EMP for a living?

I owned a EMP/9, my parents a .40 and a 9 - all of them had trouble feeding FMJ and feeding JHP was nigh impossible. I feel that "break-in" periods for firearms are bullshit, but these issues persisted past a reasonable break-in period and a trip apiece back to Springfield.
I've heard and read the same from a lot of owners. Maybe things have gotten better at the Springfield factory but I can't trust the EMP. The 1911-esque design is a wonderful idea, but getting a 1911 to run in anything but .45ACP can be a crap-shoot. My Nighthawk Talon II in 9 has been flawless... but it cost me $2700 two years ago.

If you go for a J-Frame (S&W 642, etc.), look at the Apex Tactical/Wilson Combat/Wolff spring packages. You can change them yourself at home and they bring the double-action pull down to a more manageable level (9-10# instead of 12#) without making it unsafe.

If you've got the build for it, I know a lot of folks who've switched to AIWB (appendix inside the waistband) as it lets them carry a larger pistol comfortably.

My EMP had feeding problems at first too, but Springfield fixed them on their dime. When I complained after the first trip that it fed FMJ well but didn't like the one specific JHP I had tried, they immediately paid for a second trip without asking me to try different JHP rounds or suggesting more "break in". It's been flawless since using everything from filthy, underpowered 115 gr FMJ to +p 124 grain HST.

Springfield needs to crack down on their American assembly staff, but their customer service will fix any problem you find.

But an EMP isn't a gun for pocket carry.

If you live in NY, I recommend the Colt/Checkmate 7-round 1911 magazine.

I have a khar cm9 that I have to go break in and I orderd a springer XDS .45 that may take a couple months to get in .I refuse to panic buy a black rifle .Have a Mossburg 930 SPX I need to go work out also...If I was to get a new revolver it would be one of those smith scandium 8 shot jobies in .357.

i gots plenty o gunz and a coupla thousand pills in a coupla shapes and sizes. i do need food. lots of food.
