I'm all for challenging boundaries but no arguments here even make sense:
- There are people I hate in society and I need a denigrating label for them so I should be able to use one from when we used to own other people
- It's ok to hate other people and to embrace our hate, we shouldn't have to put up with anybody questioning that
- Even though I rite like a 8 year old, puppet any stupid thing I agree with on the internets, and am incapable of any unique idea, I am not part of the "white trash niggers" of which I speak so lowly
- Oh, and my favorite. We FREED them so we should get our due

I reserve my racial epithets for extreme circumstances and have zero guilt about it. But, I don't object to someone who doesn't want to hear or see them as part of their voluntary social discourse.

What entertains me is the change in society and our mindless attachment to social mores. Not too many years ago nigger was a vile epithet and simultaneously hilarious social commentary (see Blazing Saddles and Richard Pryor). In these days of required identity politics, you need to do all kinds of social calculus to determine what is and isn't allowed to be said, written, or even thought.

If you are you black, just drop the "r" and add an Ebonic "a" to the word and it's as right as right can be. If you are white, it can't be said or thought - or even have been said in the distant past (see Paula Deen), or you have committed the unpardonable sin and must be cast forth from the tribe of civilized humanity.

Personally, I've loved seeing the anti-antisemitism and nigger rants on IGx because they showed me the inner workings of ways of thinking that I'd only heard about elsewhere. I like it to end though when it grows tiresome and enough has become enough, kind of like comedians who endlessly say "fuck" and "cunt" to the point where it gets tired.

Kaz is a gifted poetic polemicist who dares to say what cannot be said. I think it's valuable to see and IGx is the only place I know that has the honesty to allow it combined with the openness to call it hateful bullshit if you want.

I used to completely avoid the free speech forum because of the bigotry.

I've yet to be convinced that black people, promiscuous women, homosexuals, Jews or anyone else slandered here is any worse than anyone else. That's from glancing through a lot of posts that spew hate and separation.

One of my friends can't help but say stuff like this to people, he got his wife and himself dis-invited from doing anything with their longtime friends for saying racist things to them. I like him because he's fun to go surf with, but I'm careful with where I invite him to go.

Then you miss the point that many of us make a distinction between a black person and a nigger.

I have no issue with a black person describing a truly racist white person as a cracker, honky or white trash low life.

Humans use describing words and for those who I call nigger, it fits them well. Jerk and asshole don't cut it, too broad and all of us can be jerks and assholes.
