Glassman's weight problem is a direct result of his injury. For proof watch the video "Murderball." All of the quadriplegics in that are more overweight than him, because they can't use their legs at all.
Oh, wait. No they're not. Never mind.
GDG!

totally agree Bill, I couldnt beleive it.Its one thing to tout your system as great but when you are hacking guys WAAAAAY better than you I dont know if it takes balls or just delusion. You can be a great coach in a wheelchair but if you're saying you have the keys to perfect fitness and you cant figure out how to get into basic condition you dont have a lot of room to speak, imo. But what do I know. I'm scared to visit headquarters.
I believe the limp is from the polio though.Doesnt negate the gut or the lack of upper body muscle.or any muscle.Black box eh? Cant let that shit loose on the public now can we?

Polio, injury, the point is definitely the same. I'm one to talk, sitting here perfectly able-bodied, but I hope to god that if my legs got cut off, I'd be hitting the UBE as soon as I was out of the hospital. And not eating so goddamned much.
Maybe it's vanity but the idea of hauling a gut and man-tits around is unacceptable to me.

I remember when Federenko (sp?) came to the U.S. A., there were several posts by those who trained with him, ( I never saw him in person,) saying how he was not at all especially physically impressive. Yet, everyone agreed that his abilities were amazing.
( I'm not sure how much, if at all, this observation has to do with the above, but it's striking how similar the frame and physique of most olympians in a given event are.)
I don't know Glassman, but that video is certainly not "flattering" to say the least. Yet, he says, if I recall correctly, that while he does not do the WOD, he does more experimental sort of stuff and that he could still X-Fit better than most.
What do you think is the correlation, if any, between athletic performance ability and appearance ? Notwithstanding anyone's view of "meltdowns" is Glassman getting a bum rap ? Is it possible the guy is, in his own way, in Federenko's league, but just may not present as especially impressive ?
Or, is it not possible ?
While I'm thinking out loud, when Bill challenges fitness "gurus" to take their shirt off, while I guess that's fair if they're selling BB alone, is it fair if they're selling "fitness" & athleticism ?

I would say it depends on the sport.with low force , endurance sports it is certainly possible to have low muscle mass and tone and still be productive( swimming, marathons) but for high power output sports( and this is what crossfit is supposed to maximize) I have a hard time beleiving that one would have such low tone as well as such high bodyfat(especially concentrated in the abdomen) if serious training of any kind was being done. especially for an ex-gymnast/ringman.
as far as bills challenge for fitness gurus to take their shirts off I think one should at least be at least a decent representative of what their training program can provide.Maybe not the top of the spectrum but at least in the range.
pavel isnt the most buffed guy around but he's not sellling size. neither is couch.as far as his claim he can xfit better than most I would like to see some video of that.

The Federenko thing is a bad example. I commented that he wasn't physically impressive looking in person in comparison to his amazing abilities. He still looked like an athlete. He was lean and toned. He was VERY fast and percise. He WALKED IT.
Coach looks OUT OF SHAPE. And he has never demonstrated that he is otherwise. End of story.

Bullshit. BBB is all about size. The forum is full of dumbasses wanting to get hyooge - presumably from reading or hearing about BBB. Dragondoor has made a distinct move to catering to women and also faggot bodybuilders.Rif wrote:"

Pavel is as lame as Glassman when it comes to walking the talk. Why doesn't he do the Beast Challenge? Cause he can't from some bum elbow special forces injury? Riiiiiiiiiiight.
Rif, you are acting like the biggest kool-aid drinking cum guzzler there is over there. Open up you fucking eyes and look around. DD is a joke and you are being palyed for all you'll give them for free. Did you get payed for the article you wrote about your wife's weight loss. If not, why? Tell me they won't sell shit from that. They will.
RD,
Bullshit. RKC is not about size. BBB is not the mainstay of kb training or the DD message.Look, because I love kb training and thinks its the best thing since sliced bread for me and my clients doesnt mean I think its the way everyone should train for all purposes and I have stated that many times. Use the right tool for the job.
If you want to get big there is a method thats been around for years; its called bodybuilding and it works gret. If you want to get REALLY strong , the method is called powerlifting and it works great as well. No need to reinvent the wheel.
KBs and Pavel methods gave me my training life back when I was wrecked from years of powerlifting and injuries. I could barely walk at this time last year and could tolerate almost no training volume. Big, big difference a year later and its thanks to kbs and pavel. You dont know me so you can think what you like but thats my truth.I'm getting more fucntion and ability back every week.
I have been exposed to great coaches as well as shitty ones and I learned to respect the good ones and be gracious and thankfull about what I learned from them. If thats cum drinking well that just shows me how little you have learned in your life.Showing respect for those that have taught you things is just that, respect.Being as positive and encouraging as I can is something I got from coaching, especially kids, for all these years. Negative reinforcement rarely works well imo.
I knew kb would be great for me in 2002 when I first got my first set when we were setting up my new gym. DIdnt know about the hype of DD at all, just knew that this was the tool I had been thinking about for my clients and it turned out to work great for me as well.
I dont understand why you guys have such a problem with the DD forum. It is what it is: a community for all levels of people interested in kbs. why does that threaten you so much? SO what if most are newbies. Hey, I do this for a living and I'm always interested in helping others and bringing new people to what I believe is a great and safe way to train.
Is it the only tool for elite athletes? No, but I never said it was.Does it work better for my clients than any other method I've found in 27 years of personal training? Yes.
I dont like the MLM marketing hype of DD any more than anyone else but hey, its HIS company not mine and he didnt ask me.
As far as me getting paid for my articles for DD no I didn not. What I did get is national and international exposure, for free, for my studio , my business and my name. thats worth way more than a few hundred bucks they could pay me for an article.I've gotten more emails and feedback from that then you can imagine. A great deal if you ask me.
And considering all I've learned and gotten from Pavel I am GLAD to do it.I hope they sell the SHIT out of kettlebells for weightloss from the article. Doenst do anything but help my business.
And as far as Pavel doing the Beast Challenge why does only competing at the top of the game constitute walking the talk?I saw Pavels elbow when I was down in Santa Monica last year and it indeed is fucked up.I have a knee that only bends 95 degrees and I know how limiting joint injuries are. DIdnt stop him from doing 100 pound pullups and working on closeing the COC #3 when I was there.Watching him demo allthe rkc drills at the cert also showed me the man has not neglected his kb skills.
The point is is that he is still training, regularly, as hard as he can, on the goals that he has set, given his current limitations and conditions. Going to a meet and pulling your best that day IS walking the talk. The fact that you are not elite is irrelevant.
He DID snatch and jerk the two pood enough to get his MS rating. How many times does one have repeat their best efforts in order to be legit? the fact that he is still pushing his (current) limits and glassman( by all appearances ) is not, is the difference to me.
RD, have you ever been elite at a sport? I find it interesting that guys who have never really produced a top performance can be so critical of those who have but can no longer do so. As if ANY of us will get better at 40 than we were at 20.Its a very small window.

"it's all easy til it's heavy"
I appreciate Bill and Rif's replies above. Here's another question.
A number of people have mentioned that among the X-Fit faithful are some excellent athletes. I'd have to think that among those (elite?) high level X-Fitters are some smart folks.
If Glassman is lacking "bona fides", how has he "fooled" them ? Are they "drinking the kool-aid" ? If so, what does that mean ? That they are feigning (sp?) blindness ? Is it more likely that they see the same inconsistencies posted @ IG, but figure, there's enough there to like, so why not just focus on that part ?
My fascination is with the fact that Glassman's probably built, to a greater or lesser extent, a "worldwide following" with attention ( albeit the spark that started a flame war,) by the NY Times and ( I believe,) Men's Journal.
If a guy is truly only wearing "the empreror's new clothes" and smart, capable trainees are talking about "how well dressed he is", that's an interesting (sociological,) phenomenon to me.

cayenne,
I beleive that if glassmans methods were the greatest it would matter not a whit if he could do them himself. The fact that he has the nerve to hack cotter, jack and others for being "weak performers:" while he cant carry their jocks is what amazes me.Its one thing to hype your own deal, it's another to call people out and not be able to do much yourself.

Rif,
Fuck you. I am almost 42 and I get better all the time. You OTOH are a walking testimony on how not to train. I'll stick with what I'm doing.
Your cum guzzling, kool-aid drinking behavior is specifically exhibited at the DD forum because you act that way with your constant online blow jobs of Pavel and JDC and any RKC with a dumbass article or product to promote.
Question for the Pavel defenders: If Pavel is so classy and upright, why did he let JDC get him to stop using his last name a la Madonna or Pink? Also the hyperbole in the ad copy is ludicrous and outright false in most cases. Is that classy and upright behavior befitting a professed follower of Jesus? If not, why doesn't it matter?
Pavel wrote that the DeadLift is the king of all lifts and made his training name talking about it in PttP. So how come he can only DL 4 something. The urban legend was that he could pull 565 or 600 or so. He can't and probably never could. Another lie perhaps?
Classy my ass. He's a huckster. You keep letting him help you by writing articles for him without compensation. I'm sure you'll get really far that way, but if I were you I'd buy a PowerBall ticket every week just to be safe.
DD's forum is lame. You don't know that because you weren't around when it was good.

rd,
right back at you.so you're getting better all the time. at what? numbers please.the fact that I was seriously injured at 17 and continued to bust ass and train continuously AND at high levels at numerous sports for the next 30 plus years lets me sleep well at night with my decisions .
dont need to buy a powerball ticket nor rely on DD for any income boost, I'm doing just fine already, thank you.I'm suprised you are 42 though, from your posts I thought you were a teenager.
