As to the athletes at CF I think they agree with the basic formula "coumpound movents done at high intensity always varied" and ignore the rest. I think Rob Wolf is almost beyond Glassman at this point. Most of the hot shits, Annie, Greg don't really post. Mark Rutherford, Bergener and the like do their own thing. I think, like Rif, they have had great results and ignore the rest.
I saw Pavel do a workout, in private, just him and Steve and me after the NW thing, alternating pressing the 88lb and kicking the living shit out of the heavy bag for many, many reps. I've seen lot's of 3rd and 4th dans kick and he was gettin' it. This was after an 8 hour day in 100 degree heat demoing all kinds of pistols, 1 arms, 1 arm handstand against the wall , repping out 1 arm HLRs, and so forth. At the cert he bent presses and snatches the 88 with ease at a BW of about 172. He's a hard guy.

Better then what exactly?

Are you like 15 or something. Fedor wins fights because he can fight. Glassman is selling FITNESS.

That's nothing. From your posts at DD we all thought you were probably gay.Rif wrote:rd,
right back at you.so you're getting better all the time. at what? numbers please.the fact that I was seriously injured at 17 and continued to bust ass and train continuously AND at high levels at numerous sports for the next 30 plus years lets me sleep well at night with my decisions .
dont need to buy a powerball ticket nor rely on DD for any income boost, I'm doing just fine already, thank you.I'm suprised you are 42 though, from your posts I thought you were a teenager.
You'll get no numbers from me. My training is my business.
So fuck you again.

exactly. I saw your training log. are you fucking kidding me? I squatted and deadlifted triple bodyweight, and benched 435 at 181 in competition, drug free and you're saying I'm an example of how NOT to train? give me a fucking break. 225 squat? 175 pound military press? whats that?

My goals revolve around repetition kettlebell lifting, not 1RM. I could care less that I can't squat triple body weight. How many jerks can you do? I'll bet I can double or triple it.Rif wrote:exactly. I saw your training log. are you fucking kidding me? Where did your training get you? So injured you had to be redeemed at DD.
Unrelated question. Was it you or Shetler that came up with the asinine idea of grip aids for KB lifting?

Doughboy,
First, I didnt see any kb training in your log. Plus when you compete for real and take things to the max things break. oh well.15 years of competitive powerlifting broke me and I finally gave it up. Fuck me for not wanting to quit.Kbs let me training again hard and I realized I'd rather spend the second half of my life lifting lighter and feeling less pain.so no more competition for me.
and yeah it was me that came up with the grips for kbs. its such a stupid idea Cotter got some.I've forgotten more than you've ever know about training.
So when is your next NAKF kb competition?

TBD. I might join the USGSF so I can go mano a mano with -S-.Rif wrote:So when is your next NAKF kb competition?
Anyway, your log shows you pressing a 70 lb KB for like 2 reps. That is not hard training, comrade. 70 pounds is pussy weight for a one arm press.
Cotter buying the grips doesn't mean I think it's less stupid.
You may have forgotten more than I will ever know about training, but I have vanquished more online idiots than you.
Keep posting.
dougie,
I train now to stay out of pain and be as functional as I can .I proved my competitve worth in real competition. dont need to do it in my gym. Lets see I can still snatch the 72# kb at 160 pounds as well as press it for reps.I expect to do both with the 88# soon as well. Just as exercise.
whats your competitive track record? Oh yeah, your training is nobody's business.nice to rest on no laurels.

Repetition lifts dickhead. I can play the online callout game, too.Rif wrote:dougie,

How many jerks can you do with 2x24kg kettlebells? No belt, no resting, just a steady pace.
I've forgotten more about kettlebell lifting than you can ever hope to know.
Dougbboy,
I dont do two kb jerks for the same reason I dont do any 2 handed kb lifts of any kind very much. they hurt my back. I dont do any lifts anymore that I dont think agree with my joints. I'm training now to get better not more broke down.
Thats why I'm not doing high rep anything anymore except for swings.Too much risk and not enough reward.I'm retired from competition.Hated doing 28+28 at the cert as well.
The fact that I am back to pressing the two pood for two reps and consider it great is that I tore some bicep fascia four months ago trying to do repetition snatches with the two pood.I wasnt sure I would press anything again.
I'm also down 25 pounds from where I was last year. that affected strength as well.Arent you trying to lose some weight too?
Its certainly not my all time pr or great in any absolute sense but it shows me my trend and thats whats important.I'm getting stronger than I was and thats all that matters to me these days.
But when is your next comp? I cant wait to see how many jerks you can do.

So was I, and I smoked at least two packs of Marlboros per day on top of that. However, that didn't stop me from MUTANT DENSITY TRAINING, RSR for DEADLIFT and becoming RKC! You're a lazy Finnish drunk despite your high-level competition combat victories using the long-proven principles outlined in Think and Grow Rich, that's clearly.
BTW and on a slight tangent, Staley's EDT book is now being sold at Costco for $10.99.

Rif's walked the walk, Doughboy. He's put it on the platform, like he said, for three decades. If, in his experience, kbs and Pavel's offerings have merit, that says a lot.
Rif was also a Chek groupie, though, which slides the balance sheet back the other direction.
Here's a little reality check for you: The hardcore "Outlaw" powerlifter types think Rif's the real deal. Why? Because they know him. And these guys have no problems with Rif's kettlebell adventures.

As far as getting info that will help my training or my cleints I will always steal from the best. I dove into Cheks stuff as it was the best info on back assesment and rehab I had seen at the time.
ANd I defended him on Supertraining and had my ass handed to me by Dr Siff. When Chek wouldnt defend his theories for Siff mano y mano it made me rethink some of his stuff. Some I kept, some I let go.I try not to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I still use Cheks comparative range of motion assessment with new clients and the stability ball for certain things, especially with older, deconditioned clients. He has gone off the deep end lately, though. He wasnt like that in 1998 when I was introduced to him.
I've paid my dues on the platform, both competing and coaching. The guys who also have been under real weight know that. The fact that powerlifters are one of the fastest growing segments of the kettlebell market is no suprise to me.
