Around here, Mexicans are too busy picking to panhandle.
Those who don't pick are too busy getting pregnant in their HUD housing. Either way, they've got things that take up their time aside from begging like a bunch of inbred, gap-toothed, kidnapping gypsies.

I never noticed that before. There's places around here where they congregate, outside Home Depots or on other unofficially "designated" streets but the only thing they ever ask for is work.

Re: You ever see a Mexican panhandler?
I've never met a Mexican or an El Salvadoran or whathaveyou who didn't have some kind of job.
It's funny actually, the Futre Mrs. Herr Doktor lives in an area which is densely populated with Latin Americans. Mostly El Salvadorans. This is what I've observed, when she and I study their habits occasionally when I go down to visit her--
It is not uncommon for many of the houses in her neighborhood to be occupied by ten or eleven people. Large families, lots of kids, and occasionally I hear stories about live chickens roaming free in her neighbor's back yard...
Early in the morning the men pile into their big-ass pick em' up trucks and go to work. The women stay home and look after the house and the kids I guess. In the evening the men come back home again, and they all hang out and eat food and drink beer and laugh among themselves.
Frankly, I think this model of theirs is pretty fucking cool. A large, supportive family structure is important, work is important. Congregating at night to drink beer and enjoy jovial company is important. And I can dig it.
I have no problems whatsoever with (most of) them.

I believe that I can honestly say that I do not personally know a single black male who doesn't have a graduate degree.
They do likely exist, I do admit.

Yes, whenever I go into Houston I see Mexican panhandlers. A few of them are missing limbs, a few are very old, a few look pretty normal. I see white and black panhandlers too, but no Asian or Indian(dot)

The same goes for the Mexicans in my area. And I agree with your post. I like Mexicans in general as they seem to be pretty cool people.Dr. Agkistrodon wrote:I've never met a Mexican or an El Salvadoran or whathaveyou who didn't have some kind of job.

Re: You ever see a Mexican panhandler?
Old timey work ethic grounded in Catholic values and strong family structure. Plus, Mexico doesn't have a welfare state like the US...all of the aforementioned combined with the option of "work or starve" means the guy who will put the next roof on your house or pick the avocado for your guacamole dip is a Messican.
At the risk of giving Seahill a coronary, I would trade every black in this country for a Mexican on a man-for-man basis and sleep well knowing that on average I'm going to get a better deal for the nation about 19 out of 20 times.
Culture is king...deal with it.

Re: You ever see a Mexican panhandler?
I can count on one hand how many Hispanic panhandlers I have seen and most seemed like Americans, not immigrants.
I used to supervise a lot of hispanics and most of them were decent to good to great people. At one point I had no whites on my crew, and that was partly cause the hispanics outworked them and had a better attitude and partly because the hispanics wait till work is over to get trashed.
While I want our borders sealed up and a good deal of illegals sent home, I have no problem with them coming here legally and I would make it a little easier for those who live on our continent to come here than those from across the ocean.
We need a transfusion of family orientated, hard working people. Hispanics by in large assimilate and are pretty much like any decent American by the 2nd generation.

I've seen maybe 2 or 3...but then in Seattle everyone panhandles...even Bill Gates
I never understood the fear of immigrant latino culture. Fuckers could teach our kids a thing or three about the value of work.

Re: You ever see a Mexican panhandler?
This is more a central/south american thing than specifically Mexican or Salvadoran (although those seem to be the biggest groups). Nothing is getting built in this area without most of the labor being hispanic.
My wife is Chilean and I have been to her uncle's house on saturday/sunday a few times. It is pretty much standard for the whole family to hang out eating and just spending time together all day. I think it's pretty cool.

If they wanted to sit on their asses and do nothing, they wouldn't have crossed the border.

It's a threat to those who don't want the competition, especially when they're willing to work for lower wages.Blaidd Drwg wrote:I never understood the fear of immigrant latino culture.
The wage threat is the big one-- even Cesar Chavez wanted to close the borders.

I went to a birthday party this past summer for a kid in my son's class. The family are filipino.Kirk wrote:This is more a central/south american thing than specifically Mexican or Salvadoran (although those seem to be the biggest groups). Not only was the house and yard wall-to-wall people they had mountains of food buffet style in the kitchen and dining room, including like half a dozen different meat dishes.
While I was busy trying to get my day's 200+ grams of protein in a single meal I thought "Sweet Baby Gorilla Jesus, all this for a kid's birthday party, what are their weddings like?"
Re: You ever see a Mexican panhandler?
In NYC they hang around inside the Home Depots because a lot of people don't have cars.Cave Canem wrote:I never noticed that before. There's places around here where they congregate, outside Home Depots or on other unofficially "designated" streets but the only thing they ever ask for is work.
By in large the central/south American population in my area (which is huge) is extremely hard working and you see them spending time together as families in public. Other groups are family-oriented too but aren't as public about it, I think.
Sometimes you can't help but admire these qualities.

This is why illegal immigrants are usually (outside of California) cheaper than similarly skilled legal immigrants.Turdacious wrote:Unfortunately the welfare mongers try to drum this work ethic out of them.Pinky wrote:If they wanted to sit on their asses and do nothing, they wouldn't have crossed the border.

I travel extensively through Mexico every year from Rosarito to Playa del Carmen, Oaxaca and south. The majority of Mexicans are so poor you'd starve to death just thinking about what they don't have. What they do have is a strong work ethic, respect for their families and a love of Christ.
All else being equal, I agree with Kaz. Ship the niggers to Mexico and bring the other brown-skinned folks up here. THEN build a wall separating us from Mexico and in less than 3 years you'll have Lord of Flies in real life there.
