But when I stand in front of the mirror and really look, I wonder: What the fuck happened here? Jesus Christ. What a beating!
Sweet DikTracy! What did the inside look like? Seats? Bed? Carpeted? I'm going to do something with the inside of my 1969 Chevy Van sometime in the near future though I'm not quite sure what yet. I'm thinking of creating two tiers so I can store my camping things, spare tire, etc below and sleep up top. So far I've traveled and camped all over arizona, colorado and some parts of texas, namely Austin. Cheers!DikTracy6000 wrote:Mick,I had an 85 Chevy van that looked pretty close to that. Maroon carpet throughout, captains chairs, and two benches when taken out could sleep four pretty easily. I also added two alum. steps that went from wheel to wheel on both sides for the secret service men to stand on. Mine actually had windows, but the wife balked when I wanted to added those skinny venetian blinds. It also had two big speakers in the rear and sounded like a bandbox when I cranked it up.Bedlam 1946 wrote:dDikTracy6000 wrote:Mick,I had an 85 Chevy van that looked pretty close to that. My Dad had almost that identical van with a custom paint job. I used to bitch at him, that he waited till I left home to buy all the cool vehicles. My Chevy van was a tank in the snow when I put the tire chains on.Shafpocalypse Now wrote:
I had a Dodge Ram conversion van. Forest green.
1976-1979 ish, I can't remember, drove it in 1986, 1987, 1988...my brother wrecked it in '88
Had the little v-8 in it.
2 captains chairs, a bench that folded down into a bed in the back, curtains, shag carpeting.
I got as much pussy in that van that a horny teen could.
Fucker was awesome in the snow.

It's another fuckin minivan, nothing special. Though a turbo diesel option would be interesting.Bedlam 0-0-0 wrote:Thanks Shape! I did not know about the new microbus. They have too many windows for my tasts and habits but they look pretty functional. Up until 1995 the old vw bus continued to be made in mexico and this year the last factory that made them located in Sao Paulo Brazil shut down. Here is Car and Driver's article about the microbus. 40k price tag and a diesel option which would be quite nice! http://www.caranddriver.com/features/20 ... us-feature
But were they inspiration for the "bang Bus"?Bedlam 0-0-0 wrote:The future happened.
