Don't you worry...
...when seconds count, the police are just minutes away. So go ahead a listen to Spells, register them guns with the government or better yet hand over them evil guns. You're much safer that way. Remember, always have a snack on hand for your attackers. That way maybe they'll just assault, rape and or kill your friends/ loved ones and leave you alone or at least save you for last.

LOL at the reporter calling an SKS an assault rifle. A rifle never designed to be select fire. However, enough about facts and reality. Let's talk about evil guns. Them evil guns made those hoods rob that store or as Nafod would prefer, them evil gun corporations made them do it. That or their lack of affordable healthcare or the onset of global warming or absence of school prayer or not enacting the death penalty for using a gun in a crime or insert your weasel political ploy for a vote.

I don't see what's "conservative" about his post. Police will probably try to save you if you have a problem and they're around (Officer Friendly material aside). They usually aren't around though because they can't be everywhere. The store owner protected his business, and perhaps his employees. And, no one is likely to try to rob that store again for a while.Grandpa's Spells wrote:LOL @ "Personal Liberty Digest." Hyper vigilant family walks on the cruel, tree-lined, blacktop-paved jogging paths of white, middle class, wherever.
I'm Pro-CCW all the way for non-felons. But if Mr. Depicted Quickdraw thinks the practical risks to his family are solved with a gun, he is extremely silly. That this gets used as a presumably useful advertisement is a testament to the effectiveness of the gun lobby in scaring the shit out of people who are in no real danger whatsoever.

Re: Don't you worry...
I am 9-1-1. And I know about emergency response. This ultra-slow response was an anomaly because the call receiver didn't understand the nature of the call.
So let's skip the anomalies. A three minute response is a GREAT time. Criminals know that, and so should Joe Sixpack, so he can decide how he wants to respond in the 3-90 minutes that it takes for the cops to come "save" him.
If you want to hang out with armed thugs for three+ minutes while they do whatever they feel like doing, be my guest. But don't disarm other citizens who refuse to play the Piñata.

Again, Spells misses the point, and focuses on the bright, shiny object. No harm is done when a citizen in a low risk neighborhood responsibly packs heat. (Although, IMO, open carry is a narcissistic, douche move that alienates people & hurts the cause.)

No it's re-establishing in the average street drone's head that guns are OK and legal and a citizen has as much right to carry one on their side as the pigs.johno wrote:I

It's also nice to not have to worry about concealing it, like when it's 100 degrees outside and you don't feel you need to fuck with a shirt that will cover the damn thing but you want to carry the thing.
It only hurts the cause because people are sensitive cunts around anything lethal (except the 1-2 ton weapon they take to work and to places of interest.) Basically anyone shocked at the sight of a weapon on one's side should be grounds to take their right to vote, their balls if they have them or their ass if you so wish.

Re: Don't you worry...
the reason for the big wave in concealed carry reform was open carry. citizens exercising their rights in various key states forced their legislatures to repeal concealed carry restrictions by meeting for brunch toting hoglegs on their belts. Perfectly legal, but unsettling. so now every retard and granny in 40+ states has a glock in their pocket instead of on their hip. If you ask me, it's somewhat pussified - like only practicing homosexual acts behind closed doors instead of being proud enough of what you are to force everyone else to look.

People pushing for more gun laws should be thankful for people who open carry and look to give them as much publicity as possible. In fact, if they saw somebody packing heat, they should offer to interview them and post the video online.

Re: Don't you worry...
I don't carry at all unless I think I might be attacked for some reason, because I'm not frightened of shadows. On the farm I usually tote a large wheelgun in open sight, because its easier to get it into battery and pointed at the weasel, coyote, etc. I've gone into town numerous times having forgotten I was wearing it and haven't had a problem. When I first got my permit I carried concealed constantly, but it's not worth the pain in the ass. If I'm carrying, it's for a specific reason.johno wrote:So you walk into your workplace with your hogleg strapped?Garm wrote:If you ask me, it's somewhat pussified

My workplace is either my home or on the other end of an airport. No carry at the latter.

Re: Don't you worry...
I carry almost all the time.
In corporate America it's a 9mm pocket pistol loaded with Federal HST HP. When off of work, it's a 1911 or a Glock G36 loaded with Hornady .45ACP HP. On weekends out in the field, it's a Ruger Redhawk, open carried & loaded with Buffalo Bore .45LC P+ Bear loads. When I travel on business, I take the Glock G36. I have several state carry permits and can legally carry in all, but the most retarded of states.
I carry because I can and I'd rather have it and not need it etc. It's a tool, no different than having a pocket knife or a folder clipped inside your pants pocket.

Re: Don't you worry...
The pain in the ass is having to know all the details. What do you do when you have to walk into the bank in state A where its not legal, etc. Walk back to the rental and hope that Satchmo doesn't see you pop it into the trunk? It's also very uncomfortable with any meaningful weapon. And you have to check your baggage, which is always stupid. Our pal Satch might work as a handler, too. I also think I can do damage with whatever is at hand, but that's probably an over assessment of my capabilities. If I'm concerned, I'll tote what's needed to overpower the perceived worst case, but if I really believe it's likely I'd be a fool to go at all, at least alone.

Re: Don't you worry...
Most of the off limit places are places I have no intention of walking into while traveling; court houses, bars etc. To answer your question, if forced to by law I leave my hand gun in the rental car locked in a small combo hard case made specifically for handguns.Garm wrote:The pain in the ass is having to know all the details. I have yet to have Satchmo steal anything. It's fairly easy to deposit my handgun into combo hard case while sitting in the car. Also, it's fairly rare for baggage handlers to steal firearms since by law, suit cases have to locked after being inspected by the TSA and they'd be inviting a world of hurt in attention. Plus, that's why I don't travel with a hand gun I'm prepared to lose or have a lot of money into.
As for comfort while carrying, a Glock G36 is a meaningfull weapon that is pretty easy to carry.

Re: Don't you worry...
This is not true in states that put the force of law behind the signs on doors forbidding weapons. I carry whenever I take a road trip with my family, but my pistol often spends all its time at our destination locked up because that state makes it illegal to carry anywhere that has a sticker on the door.Batboy2/75 wrote:Most of the off limit places are places I have no intention of walking into while traveling; court houses, bars etc.

Re: Don't you worry...
I always read the state laws before travelling and don't carry in areas listed in the relevant state and or city law. Everything else? Very few states give private enterprises legal recourse, other than to ask me to leave. If I refuse I can be arrested for trespassing. In short, unless prohibited by law and or enforced with a hefty fine or jail time, I carry no matter what sign is on the door says. I carry concealed for a reason. Still if given the choice, I'd rather travel with a firearm locked in a hard case in my luggage than not have one at all.Pinky wrote:This is not true in states that put the force of law behind the signs on doors forbidding weapons. Some locations I don't even bother because the law is just way to restrictive (even traveling with a firearm locked in a case) and or the local LEO and judicial system doesn't even follow their own ass back wards laws; Chicago and New York City are two cities I don't even bother with. NY and Chicago have been known to even openly violate federal law regarding traveling with a firearm.

BD, did you change your concealment method or anything?
And did the cop really detect your gun printing or whatever, or was he/she just bracing you & discovered the gun?

First time I blame myself for a sloppy fitting back set up. It probably printed easily plus I was digging around in the passenger side of my truck. Fairly empty lot, early evening. He had reasonable pretext to ask me if it was my truck etc. He didn't flip out but repeatedly asked my why I needed to carry concealed.
Second time was motorcycling in a very rural area, outside Cle Elum. I'm parked drinking coffee. Had revolver in a shoulder harness. Trooper had no reason to stop, just pulls over begins the whole ID thing and before I could say, I have a CCP he had his weapon out and asks me what I'm carrying. My moto jacket is quite bulky so either he was good or the jacket was hanging open. I explained, opened my jacket further and gave him ID etc. He apologized for being jumpy. You know that country up there, it would be rare not to see someone carrying open or concealed. After that incident I just switched to carrying a compact auto.
