There were a few Greeks that looked like Bond villains yesterday.baffled wrote:Am I the only one that thinks just about every German player has at least a mildly evil look to them?
Re: FIFA world cup
It was a nice win with some close goals and near misses. Where they got REALLY lucky was having Germany beat Algeria. France vs. Algeria in next round would be cause for full scale rioting in the streets of France.Turdacious wrote:France got ridiculously lucky.

Re: FIFA world cup
Can't argue that. I was thinking more of three Nigerians going down to injury, one or two of which could have easily resulted in a red card (Costa Rica didn't get those calls). Nobody looks particularly strong, it could be anybody's cup at this point, in the opinion of someone who only pays attention to football every four years anyway.lasalle wrote:It was a nice win with some close goals and near misses. Disappointing, but that was a hell of a game. Tim Howard is in for all the free beer and pussy he can handle.

That interview with Howard was tough. Single handedly kept the US in the game.

Ok, that last game was all right, Howard was a fucking maniac
Re: FIFA world cup
Looked like Belgium was rope-a-doping until whatever they fucking call overtime. Then they did that scoring thing you hear about in soccer.

WAIT, A 2-1 LOSS ISN'T OK IN SOCCER?
WHAT IF THEY TIED AGAIN?
Nice job to Tim Howard and Kinsman but losing to Belgium? Maybe in a beer making contest but in a sport?
maybe they should do more @fit...

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2 ... field.htmlWhy Tourette’s May Be Tim Howard’s Secret Weapon on the Field
Those record 16 saves against Belgium might not have just been sheer athletic ability. Neurologist Oliver Sacks says the syndrome helps give the Team USA goalie ‘abnormal quickness.’
Tim Howard’s astonishing performance as the U.S. goalie in Tuesday’s World Cup game against Belgium shares a neurological component with a case described decades ago by the eminent neurologist Oliver Sacks involving an essentially unbeatable ping-pong player.
Both Howard and Sacks’ patient have Tourette syndrome, the most manifest ill effects of which are involuntary tics.
But in Sacks’ experience, many of those with the condition also possess preternaturally quick reflexes, which his ping-pong player also demonstrated by proving able to step in and immediately back out of a moving revolving door without being struck.
“Abnormal quickness,” Sacks told The Daily Beast on Wednesday. “I see this in many other people with Tourette’s.”

Alright, who are we backing?
Fuck Brazil. Advanced this far based on some dubious calls and home cooking. Outside of Neymar, not that exciting.
Fuck Germany. Boring to watch. And German.
I'm going Columbia for sheer underdog status and the fact that it would piss of the Brazilians.

Costa Rica. Biggest underdog left in the tournament, CONCACAF represent.
