I know it's my PC. Biggest mistake was jumping from Apple to cheap PC.
I was using Chrome,, then downloaded Firefox and all the weird crap appears,.. commercials and videos and hyperlinks.

Just downloaded Panda from a cloud and virus' are gone, but this is embedded in the browser.

Don't feel bad, even an expensive PC would be equally vulnerable to what whacked you.

Go to your girlfriend's Mac or something and go to this site:

download the stuff there to an otherwise blank keydrive, take it over to your computer and follow the instructions on the page linked above, and you should be OK.

Long term fix - make the recovery media for your computer to a 16GB keydrive to hedge your bets, then get a little help putting Linux on your computer. We're finally at a point in time where Microsoft's own product, win8, is harder to transition to than a Mac or Linux.
