Predictions on this one? The UFC is not sentimental. I don't think they're going to carry much water for him when he's driving drunk again and this time hurt a pregnant woman and fled the scene.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

He's a cash cow. They'll sweep it under the rug. He'll negotiate it down to a misdemeanor.

Re: Jon Jones
For JJ's sake, I hope the woman he hit wasn't black. If so, that's going to be an automatic whiplash case right there (blacks are genetically susceptible), and the dandies over at Silverstein, Goldsmith, & Lipschitz will more than gladly handle that litigation on a pro bono basis (which means the schvartze cow will get about 10% of the payout). In addition, a pregnant black woman getting hit by an SUV can cause mild mental retardation in the baby that closely mimics the effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Yep, Jon...you're gonna have to dish out extra for that ghetto Rainman she's got cooking in there. Probably separate lawsuits from the grandparents and father what with them being all aggrieved, and such. I hope they didn't send white cops to work the accident...that close of a proximity to white officers could easily induce PTSD in both the woman and the child. Get your checkbook out, Dana...your super-Nigger is sinking fast.

Re: Jon Jones
As long as what he did was related to what he did and not what he said, it won't be a big deal. America has a sort of "ah shucks" attitude to drunk driving and it's not something that people take seriously or get outraged about in any fashion. Now, if he said something non-PC when being arrested, his career could be in jeopardy.

Aw shucks attitude. Not really. A DUI can really fuck up your life. I'm old enough to remember when it wasn't a big thing. Sort of something to chuckle about. The cops might even take you home back in the 60s, early 70s. I attribute a lot of that change to MADD, mothers against drunk driving. I wanted to start a group called DAMM, drunks against mad mothers. It never took. MADD beat DAMM.Phaedrus wrote:As long as what he did was related to what he did and not what he said, it won't be a big deal. Injured pregnant lady and fleeing the scene is a bit different than getting pulled over and blowing .11, IMO. With a prior?

Uhhhh no. I know Clark County and sure they will plead a first time barely over the limit to a wet reckless like anywhere else and yeah if a person with juice blows really high first time they MIGHT pull a wet reck but whoever signs off is putting their career on the line...
And DUI + injury = you are fucked.
DUI + injury + prior + pregnant female? = congrats you get the max.
Judges and DA's are elected in Clark County.

If you willingly get loaded and knowingly get behind the wheel enough times you may be facing a bit of jail time. People get furious about shootings but not about drunks. Mention that if you are caught driving drunk you should never, ever drive again and listen to how loudly people whine.seeahill wrote:Aw shucks attitude. Not really. True. I have a really hard time taking anyone seriously who won't admit that we as a country are ok with people being killed by drunk drivers.Phaedrus wrote:If you willingly get loaded and knowingly get behind the wheel enough times you may be facing a bit of jail time. One of them involved a big time fight-- the only thing that matters. Whether JJ can afford a first class lawyer and PR firm is the subordinate question.bennyonesix wrote:Neither of those situations involved DUI w/injury?

It's really not enough to say that the system is corrupt therefore this guy will walk.Turdacious wrote:One of them involved a big time fight-- the only thing that matters. Repeat DUI's with injury are simply not something that DA's are willing to cut deals on. They know the rate of re-offense AND the rate of vehicular homicide. If they cut this guy a deal and a year later he re-offends and kills someone (knock on wood no jinx) then that is on them morally AND they have to deal with the press and the voters...
Look, domestic violence, non-violent drug offenses, property crimes etc then maybe... First time assault and battery? Maybe. Repeat offense violent crime? Repeat DUI w/agg factors? No.
Assuming there were people who would apply pressure to either the Judge or DA, there is no way they could make the risk worth while... The populace would LOSE THEIR SHIT OVER IT and it would be obvious the fix was in.
Bottom line, the incentives just don't line up.
Re: Jon Jones
They'll decide after the fight. If he wins.. it will be swept under the rug. If he loses, they'll dump him into Bellator Hell.

I was wrong. Cormier is in. Kinda bad when he got dominated by Bones, but he's being the trooper. Bones lost Reebok just now too.TomFurman wrote:They'll decide after the fight. If he wins.. it will be swept under the rug. If he loses, they'll dump him into Bellator Hell.
