GOP Governor of S.C. and even Lindsey Graham are calling for the removal of the Confederate flag from the Capitol grounds. I'm pretty surprised at the turnaround.

A lot of anti-thought going on with this flag issue. Seems like a classic states right question. If SC wants to make the Duke's of Hazard theme song their anthem or burn the battle flag what business is it of the rest of us?

I find both sides of the "symbol" argument equally repellant.

Yes.

One side is knee jerk assholery, the other is digging in their heels just because. If I were forced to side with one, I would side with those who don't want to be bullied into surrendering what amounts to a symbol of the deep south, more so than a symbol of 'racism' or slavery. As a fellow IGx'er pointed out on his FB page, if you're going to bitch about the confederate flag under the guise that it's racist, then you need to say the same of GB's Union Jack as that's the flag most of the slave ships sailed under.

Modern liberals (meaning, liberals 40 and under) have determined that States stopped existing somewhere around the time the 14th Amendment was enacted. It just took us this long to figure it out.

Commentary was that they were failing to take leadership on the issue.
