Is it not practical or appropriate to frisk the guy in the bathroom before walking him out?
Not a leading question, just curious because that is what my untrained ass would want to do.

That was the intro to my forthcoming instructional, titled "A Punk Rocker's Guide To Dealing With Law Enfircement."Boris wrote:Kenny,Kenny X wrote:Boris wrote:The female officer shooting him three times on the ground might be a little questionable, but he was still moving and had a gun so, you know.
Here's the thing about that. The female officer who kept pulling the trigger:
a. has a life of her own
b. has a responsibility to protect the lives of those in the immediate vicinity
c. probably has family members at home whom she doesn't want to leave without a wife and mother
d. showed no signs of malicious intent when she shot him- her voice said it all, you could tell that she was terrified but still holding it together, while she neutralized that threat. Her training took over and she did what she was trained to do, despite any fear she was feeling
This was not a malicious shooting, nor was it abuse of authority. This was cops encountering what they have been taught is their worst nightmare- a suspect who appears calm and then draws what appears to be a weapon, and responding by taking out that threat in a textbook manner.
Why do I always turn off my engine and place my keys on the passenger's side of the dashboard, and keep both my hands in plain-view on the steering wheel whenever I get pulled over, and why do I speak to the cops in a calm, polite, even manner, while making no sudden movements?
Because when the cops approach me, I want them to know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I am NOT a threat.
Because I don't want to get shot.
Act like a jackass like that guy did, and you get shot. And society is all the better for it, in my opinion.
You didn't need to write a book. I agree. edit: If a guy has a gun and is determined, he might decide to pull off a few w. his dying breath - I get that.

My guess is he just seemed like a nonthreatening drunk.
I'm with climber511. What a stupid thing to do. Who carries a fake gun?? And then draws it, turns, and points it at cops? LOL

Oh yeah, I am not saying they did anything wrong to the guy. Good for him, he got what was coming to him. Fake pistol, real pistol = you die now.
I am just surprised that they didn't frisk the guy in the bathroom. But i guess 999 out of 1000 of these things are nothing.

The only thing dumber than bringing a knife to a gun fight.Protobot wrote:I'm with climber511. What a stupid thing to do. Who carries a fake gun?? And then draws it, turns, and points it at cops? LOL

One less mouth breather to breed and pollute the world.
Arms are the only true badge of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of the free man from the slave.
I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.
