I was scrolling through Facebook and saw this picture of a child about 5 years old, sitting on a grave with some toys and it was captioned something like "He wanted to play with his brother one more time. Type Amen." I thought it was a very sweet picture and then stared wondering why I was seeing this. Most likely the picture was taken by a parent or other close relative. I clicked on the profile of the person who's picture it was and every post is trying to gain likes, shares, and comments. It makes me wonder what the point is? Is there some way this shit generates money? There was no blatant advertisement in the person's profile. Or is it just ego stroking? I really don't get the point.

2. Money is to be made. You see pages more frequently based on some formula based partially on the number of likes and shares that are generated. If you don't want to build up such an audience the way that kids did in the good ole days you can buy a page that ranks high in the formula from the outset from a person like the one you mentioned.
