I know I shouldn't be surprised. I fucking know it. But holy shit these self-absorbed idiots keep surprising me. Is there a dentist who can get all their heads out of their asses, because they are jammed way the fuck up there.

Grim, bud, for posterity you need to quote this stuff! #-o
http://www.crossfit.com/mt-archive2/005140.html
Here's the quote:
"I often say that when you can measure what you are speaking about, and express it in numbers, you know something about it; but when you cannot measure it, when you cannot express it in numbers, your knowledge is of a meager and unsatisfactory kind."
- Lord Kelvin (William Thomson, 1st Baron) (1824-1907) English physicist and mathematician. In: Popular Lectures and Addresses, London, 1889, v. I, p. 73.
And an observation that passive-aggressive character assassination is still being directed towards Mr. Wolff:
Quote doesn't hold water when talking about things that are subjective or individual specific such as artistic merit, musical preference, subjective pain evaluation, etc. The quote is a nice pot shot, however.

Then there's the new video with Dave Tate, where at the end Bony Pudding shows his complete absence of knowledge regarding anything training-wise other than what has been spoonfed to him by couch:

crossfit programming has been evolving fearlessly since day 1.
I have yet to see coach program something that did not work.
Suck it up y'all, do the work, reap the benefits, or go back to your globo gym nautilus machines!

That being said, I think I am subbing shoulder press for bench press, but hey, that's the best thing about crossfit: infinite scaleability/adaptability!!

This is the bullshit that is fed to the douches to get them to either work out alone, or pay for affiliate. Most @fitters that I have come into contact with were lawyers and accountants who were never active. Most were never shit in athletics so couch tells them that Golds Gym is full of a bunch of rapists doing 60 minute curl sessions. In reality if I see someone at my gym putting less than 2 plates on a bench to start I think they must be injured. @fitters brag about 250lb squats, when in reality they should be ashamed

Those fat fucks with no self-control don't need a damn CF flier. They can eat shit on the Zone, as long as they count the blocks. Of course they will do better than an unweighed and measured Paleo diet. Holy shit there is a lot of kool-aid coming out this morning.

This spam was rather funny too:
One week ago, I woke to the alarming news that another member of my father's bridge club had died. In just 12 months, 14 members of the group, which last Christmas was 42-strong, have perished. The "stated causes" are wide-ranging - from cancer, to aneurisms, stroke and domestic accidents.

Being of a scientific mind myself, I have done some research into the matter. Statistically, there is obviously something inherently dangerous about bridge - but I couldn't prove it straight away. I pleaded with Dad not to play anymore - at least until we'd investigated further - but my appeals fell on deaf ears. He is still playing multiple times a week, obvlivious to any risks, with a bunch of vulnerable older people. My heart skips a beat every time he goes out to meet up with them.

I quickly sought out information on the dangers of bridge. What is it that makes it so deadly??? And I found NOTHING. Not even a paragraph or a footnote. In fact, several sources cited that it carried - get this - "psychological benefits for older people".

Next, I amassed a mountain of statisitics on what current science acknowledges to be high-risk activities like BASE-jumping, handgliding and open-water diving. Only one non-bridge club ever, in Brasil, had suffered this kind of attrition over 12 months. Their deaths clustered around a horrible weekend-away trip, involving a drunken tour of a fireworks factory. Tough on their families, but at least open-water diving is at least a known high-risk activity.

I am left to wonder what vested interests are at work, what blinds science to this threat and what will it take for someone to cry "STOP" to this carnage.

Lord Kelvin, would that you were around today.

Average number of CF people on those other forums lurking around?
35.

Number of people who pay their drinking bills by selling certifications?
1.

I added numbers, guess I know what I am talking about.

Sadly, no for the most part.

But that applies to almost any fitness cult. The difference here is most other cults do not leave people routinely heaving as a badge of courage or pissing out their liver as a rite of passage.

Most average folks benefit from ANY program they start. Most average folks benefit from cutting back the booze and carbs. Joe Litigator or Nancy Acountant or Sheila Soccer Mom or Brendan Douchebag does some pullups and squats and some conditioning and knocks off some of the Budweiser and the donuts (hint here for the couch)it is no surpise they get some results.
They could get the same results carrying my bedroom furniture up and down my street and living on pedialyte and nutpaste.

The real trick is taking a strong and conditioned athlete and making them much better. If pukie and rhabdo worked for that i would be aboard douchebaggery or not.

But the truth is progress from a high level takes smarts, patience, and hard work over a long period of time.
