I just wanted to get a feel for where some of the opinions in this thread and other political themed threads come from.

My first "real job" was in a union and I didn't enjoy it in the least. The corruption and bullshit that went on was a hindrance to any real progress for the lower tiered employees. My views on business and the employee-employer relationship were colored heavily by that experience.

Going into business for myself have further influenced my views on the matter.

I grew up in a business. My parents have been small business owners for over 30 years. And spent enough time in it to know that I didn't want any part of it. As far as unions go I guess I missed the boat on joining one with any power. We can't strike, have employee reviews, and stringent rules and regulations from not only the company but the federal government.

Being your own boss is nice but you are married to that bitch and dealing with the public SUCKS. I get a kick out of the ignorant twats who think they can open a business and it just runs its self. Of course it's also why so many fail.

I blame Tim Ferriss for the idea that autopilot incomes can exist outside of trust funds. Systems can be built to make it easier, and I know of a few people who are maybe around an 16-30 hour workweek, but they're still far from passive business owners.
