THE PRESIDENT: …. I appreciate your attendance to this very important conference. You see, we want everybody in America to own their own home. That's what we want. This is -- an ownership society is a compassionate society.
More and more people own their homes in America today. Two-thirds of all Americans own their homes, yet we have a problem here in America because few than half of the Hispanics and half the African Americans own the home. That's a homeownership gap. It's a -- it's a gap that we've got to work together to close for the good of our country, for the sake of a more hopeful future.
We've got to work to knock down the barriers that have created a homeownership gap.
I set an ambitious goal. It's one that I believe we can achieve. It's a clear goal, that by the end of this decade we'll increase the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million families. (Applause.) … And it's going to require a strong commitment from those of you involved in the housing industry. …

Bush seeks to increase minority homeownership
By Thomas A. Fogarty, USA TODAY
In a bid to boost minority homeownership, President Bush will ask Congress for authority to eliminate the down-payment requirement for Federal Housing Administration loans.
In announcing the plan Monday at a home builders show in Las Vegas, Federal Housing Commissioner John Weicher called the proposal the "most significant FHA initiative in more than a decade." It would lead to 150,000 first-time owners annually, he said.
Nothing-down options are available on the private mortgage market, but, in general, they require the borrower to have pristine credit. Bush's proposed change would extend the nothing-down option to borrowers with blemished credit.

OWS says fuck you to the actual poor:
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manh ... MSYIL9xSDLThe Occupy Wall Street volunteer kitchen staff launched a “counter” revolution yesterday -- because they’re angry about working 18-hour days to provide food for “professional homeless” people and ex-cons masquerading as protesters.
For three days beginning tomorrow, the cooks will serve only brown rice and other spartan grub instead of the usual menu of organic chicken and vegetables, spaghetti bolognese, and roasted beet and sheep’s-milk-cheese salad.
They will also provide directions to local soup kitchens for the vagrants, criminals and other freeloaders who have been descending on Zuccotti Park in increasing numbers every day.

Well, some possable Marines at least.
If he was just chanting and jerking a sign and the cops just attacked then I would agree.
If they started tossing shit at the cops than fuck him.
So far neither side has proven their POV.

I think there's video of the incident. The cops have yet to adjust to the fact that every single person in America pretty much has a video camera on them at all times now.

There is, from several angles.I think there's video of the incident.
Too true. The cops have yet to adjust to the fact that every single person in America pretty much has a video camera on them at all times now.
However, it would help if there was adequate coverage of the falsehoods put forward by the police, such as the consistent denial that any flashbangs or sandbag/rubber pellets used, despite heavy video evidence and hospital admittance that says otherwise.

This attitude if something I absolutely agree with. You know that I am also a great fan of TAGR. I don't think I had one bit more than you had as a kid. We had to fish our own fish and grow our own vegetables. My dad is the hardest worker I have ever heard of and had to be replaced by a machine when he retired. At 78 he can still outwork me in any physical labor and it is something I greatly admire and have adopted from him. I have never in my life set a goal that I didn't achieve, including a World Championship, several European Championships, etc.High Velocity Lie-Nap! wrote:Back in the roaring 1990's, one of the ad campaigns on NYC Subways was "Poetry in Motion."

I have also, by hard work, unshakable determination and high goal setting worked to a point where I no longer need a higher income and can focus on creating good and fair relationships with my 12 employees, which I experience as way more pleasant than forcing every drop of money out of their backs. We have been working on something new for years and today must have been close to the 1000th time we tried it and it was one hell of a shitty day and people suggested that we give up already. I told them that I have never, ever in my life given up on something I know that can be done and we are not anywhere near the amount of testing Edison did before the light bulb worked, so we are definitely not going to stop.
And I wholeheartedly support everyone protesting against the bailouts of banks and greedy investors, even if they were all lazy pieces of shit. I don't have time to protest myself and I'm happy if they can do this for me, even if that's all they will ever amount to.

One good thing about Bloomberg is he won't be sending the cops in to end this. The cops around Zucotti are exceedingly polite and patient. I've a couple instances where protestors almost provoked police through sheer stupidity.
But I don't think winter will end this. They are well financed and supplied, and last week showed off their storage facility full of cold weather camping gear to the Daily News.
