The force is strong in those @fitters.
Just asking...but if DJ, GM, Jay, and i all drank beer and watched ESPN2 for a year, then started training exclusively for a Judo Tournament in 6 months, DJ, Jay, and me with Olympic caliber coaches, and GM his normal way...who wins?
Bottom line is once you get to the top of the mountain, it is a lot easier to stay there. CFE is just like the Shamans who relieve th epressure in the eye of Villagers, but leave them worse off or blind:
verbatim fromAnother problem lies in the villagers' beliefs in folk medicine. A popular practice that is thought to cure cataracts is "couching", a procedure that involves sticking a needle or any other sharpened object straight into the eye to dislodge the lens and therefore allow people who were once blind to now sense light. As one can imagine, couching is extremely harmful to eyes and mostly results in permanent damage that surgeries cannot fix. Traditional healers advocate this practice because they do not know or do not believe that cataract surgeries can restore people's vision; there is still a sense of distrust concerning Western medicine. As a result, Dr. Wanye's office is often frequented by couching cases gone wrong, and most of the time, the damage is irreparable.

So "couching" is permanently injuring someone based on belief in folk medicine?

Wow, guess I'm not the only guy who has to fix people from "couching" damage.

GM would win, unless we box, then I gots that shizzle :D
CFE makes me angry, I've talked with real elite runners and they look at it as a joke and a nice little training breakup, but in no way does it prepare anyone for a true endurance race.
Call it what it is, it makes @fitters better at 5 and 10K races, that's all.

This is true. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! MEGHAN! That is ridiculous. And totally hot – you’re a true CrossFitter for sure! Yikes. I honestly don’t know how it hasn’t happened to me – those box jumps are dangerous. And apparently can require a tetanus shot. Wow.
Jen Tipping April 21, 2011 at 3:55 pm
Sorry for your injury Meghan, you are tough!!! How about a little warning for the fainters in your audience when posting pix of battle wounds?
Emily April 21, 2011 at 3:30 pm
Well, those who chose not to do box jumps today had to do weighted step ups instead and meghan decided mid-workout box jumps were the better option. Either way, Meghan probably deserves an Rx for the day!
Meghan April 21, 2011 at 3:30 pm
I DID lift 95lbs…. I think we were distracted by the goose egg on my leg-
Ps…it is just now staring to hurt- Luke , I may skip tomorrow- k?
Eric April 21, 2011 at 3:24 pm
Oh and you finished the Work Out correct? If so that’s Bad Azz! Why isn’t there RX next to your name because I know that a 95# Dead Lift is like a walk in the park for you.
Emily April 21, 2011 at 3:16 pm
9 stiches?? Meghan- you’re a champ
Lisa Milko April 21, 2011 at 3:05 pm
oh yes, plus a tetanus shot. Ouchie.
Eric April 21, 2011 at 2:59 pm
Meghan congrats on the war wound and a shout out also to the photographer Lisa, who captured this 9 stitch wound on photo.
Kevin K April 21, 2011 at 2:40 pm
wow! I can’t believe it took that many stitches. Did u ever take a pic lisa? Way to tough it out meghan!
Lisa Milko April 21, 2011 at 2:15 pm
Congrats to Meghan for not only learning box jumps, but also for taking 9 stitches to close up the “learning curve” gash on her shin.

Drywall,
Noting that you changed your website's address, are we to assume you got a cease & desist letter from the HMIC???

If you did in fact get a real C&D then a) I'm totally jealous and b) please scan and post it. I've never seen a legit @fit C&D, just whiny legally-sounding emails.Captain Quack wrote:Drywall,

I moved the site because blogger sucks and I wanted better analytics and functionality, nothing more really. However, I have a few lawyer friends who are familiar with Couch's insanity over having @fit in your URL, and if I go for profit and sell anything at all (like T shirts, which I'm planning to do soon), I don't want to have to change URL's a second time. I don't think their bullshit would fly in court, but I'm not the one with shit tons of L1 cert money with nothing better to do with it than piss it away filing frivolous lawsuits. Besides, "Drywall CrossFit" doesn't even make any fucking sense.
WGM - Dude, send me those emails. Maybe I can have some fun with them.
C'mon now. That crowd is too busy jerking it to the CrossFit Journal to bother reading my shit.Cave Canem wrote:I guess I overestimated Drywall's influence in the @fit realm. I thought this thread would be filled with @fit douchebaggery today.
