The Robb Wolf stuff was pretty good. Russell the Green thinks this is some sort of religious debate.

He still wants to argue about shit that has nothing to do with issue.

50/50 and one wants to sell. And the other is dragging out the divorce.

It will end ugly. Though, very nice to watch it all unfold.

And, yes this would make great reality television.

Here is where the conversation is:

Seeing as how I cam e late to the party - what is the issue here? If she "owns" it - she can sell it to whoever she wants - that's sort of what ownership implies. Unless there is some kind of agreement behind all this stuff - it seems a little off the wall.

There will be someone in the room asking questions about revenue, salaries and growth plans. You know, adult questions. And scribbling on a white board in response isn't going to cut it.

Predictably, this makes people uncomfortable. So they're playing the logical response card: "They're coming to take away your independence and they'll turn you in to GNC/24 Hour Fitness", thus winding up the affiliates and sheep.

There is way too much money and growth in @fit for big money not to pay attention. And there's no way someone investing several million in this is going to say "oh-just keep doing things exactly the same-don't mind me over here".

Should be an interesting few months.

Well, at least they're keeping things in perspective:

I was a CrossFit affiliate owner first -- in 2007 -- before I became part of CrossFit, Inc, in 2008. I know the sweet taste of independence that affiliation provides. I know what life was like as a trainer before CrossFit arrived on the fitness scene and changed everything -- and none of us want to go back to that world. I have seen, first-hand, life from all sides of the CrossFit community and there is no doubt in my mind that insertion of outside interest is not in anyone's best interest but the profiteers seeking to insert themselves.

I stand with Coach. He has led us to a world none of us ever imagined, and the future looks brighter each and every day. Burn the boats. There is no other way for us. We will fight and do whatever we need to in order to protect our affiliates and maintain their independent nature, free from outside capital and control. And we will fight forever.

Whatever it takes.

I think she is referring to when the Chinese burned their navy to isolate themselves and focus on domestic development, not the vikings.

So it would be Risbethsu!

I'm happier not knowing.

The personalities (sic) at HQ are stirring the pot because they know they are not qualified to work in a similar capacity anywhere else. To a man (again, sic), they have stated something along the lines that "if it weren't for CF, I wouldn't be working this dream job."

Yes, there are reasons for that.

Xiang Yu burned his ships during an invasion so his soldiers could only win or die.

It appears HQ strategy is to look so crazy that nobody would want enter a business arrangement with them.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

On a lighter note almost every time I see the word "Anthos" I think "Anthes" and briefly wonder "How the fuck did Steven Anthes get mixed up in all this?"

Personally I think that all of this is only a big ripple in the still relatively small S&C pond. One only has to visit their local WAL-MART and take a look around to learn that "The Sport of Fitness" hasn't gotten it's grubby hooks all the way into society at-large... Yet.

What amazes me is the big dollars being thrown at it. Where, exactly, do investors like Anthos think the loooong money is going to come from? Because seriously, the way they have this whole thing set up has Eventual Fracture written all over it.

I'm just enjoying how the HQ staff ripe for unemployment are outing themselves on the message board and FB. Why not just raise a red flag in front of Anthos and yell, "Fire me first"? There's too much panic and rabble rousing for this not to be a serious threat to the organization as they know it.

I don't really get the whole "they will turn Crossfit into a GNC/24 hour fitness." Anthos has to understand what crossfit culture is and isn't and it makes sense from my simple view of things that they stand to make more money working with crossfit culture than against it..

If HQ prevails, look for this announcement, "Due to the legal costs incurred fighting off the a hostile sale that wouldn't give the buyer a majority share, we are forced to raise the affiliate fees across the board to $5,000. We now return to our 'hands off' style management so you're 'free' (LOL) to run your own affiliate"

There is no reason to believe that affiliate fees will not continue to rise obscenely fast (as they have been) regardless of outcome. I'm sure Anthos thinks that the affiliates, while currently not making enough money through more income streams, are also not paying the mothership enough.
