I don't fault them for this. Bumper plates can be had for good prices, but technique plates are expensive as shit. You're lucky to find a pair of 5# tech plates for under $120. They go up from there substantially. A jigsaw and plywood is much more cost effective. Hell, a 15kg 25mm bar with plywood plates is sufficient for half the CF male population.Rant wrote:Wooden plates?

Re: The couch thread
Rant, I'll break it down for you in simple terms: it's because they're weaklings.
I've got a better suggestion for anyone who's older than eight: be strong enough lift the bar plus a pair of 10kg plates. Anybody past puberty who struggles with 35-40kg should probably see a doctor.Gin Master wrote:

Yeah, but we're talking OLY here. You could walk into any crowded commercial gym, and you're be hard-pressed to find 5 guys who could snatch 40kg.WildGorillaMan wrote:I've got a better suggestion for anyone who's older than eight: be strong enough lift the bar plus a pair of 10kg plates. If someone made something slick out of PVC and styrofoam they'd be a cult hero.
Maybe give it some tribal decals and a place to hang some of dirt girl's piercings for weight.

Re: The couch thread
So true. They are all wasting their time with Oly lifts. They don’t need them. If you’re that weak you should stick to various hang pulls and deads until you can put some weight on the bar for fuck's sake. If you can’t clean and press the bar with a pair of 5 pound bumpers than you shouldn’t even be fucking around with Oly lifts. It’s one thing for chicks but these @fit guys are really a bunch of twinks. Nothing pisses me off more than @fitters and their bullshit Oly lifts. That map of the USA in the background is not gay, but all of the push pins marking the locations of other affiliates makes it so.Rant wrote:Is there anything about this pic that isn't ghey?

Fucking Otis up there is looking worse everyday. One of these days Otis just needs to walk into the slammer and dry himself out. Barney can always keep him company if he needs someone to talk to.

How can you need to keep your cookies down after training with ~16.5 kilos?

There was a girl at the OL gym I used to lift at who looked a lot like her. Except that she'd do work sets with 50-55kg, and she wasn't a pansy.

Luckily she got to recover with the Couch.WildGorillaMan wrote:How can you need to keep your cookies down after training with ~16.5 kilos?
