That guy runs Derby City CrossFit here in Louisville as well. He's a big guy, I taught him KBs a few years back. Ex football players etc. Nice enough, but as far as I can tell he drank the kool-aid.

He went to the gaymes but I'm not sure how he or his team placed. He said on Facebook he did 17 handstand pushups, I'm assuming against the wall, he also did a 225 OH squat which is on YouTube

That chick clearly isn't a CrossFitter, as was implied in the T-Nation article. If you check out LiftStudios.com, the URL in the picture's lower right corner, the company that took the photo seems to be work with just figure models/bodybuilders. She's clearly been put in good lighting and with good makeup for the photo too. In CrossFit gyms, I swear they try to take the photos when you're looking your absolute worst. At least, that's what I figure from the dozens of photos that show up here each week. Plus, there are kegs and Atlas stones in the background of that photo, things that are clearly too heavy to be found in more than 99% of all CrossFit gyms.


Looks like a good start to a CrossFit-style sumo deadlift, though.

Lance Mosley from @Fit Hardcore in Boca Raton, FL is doing a lot right. A former powerlifter, Lance has competed in the last two @Fit Gaymes. As a lifter, his bests were Squat 815; Bench 628; Deadlift 705 and total 2066 (he only put 601 for his DL PR on his profile because that's what he's done since becoming a @Fitter). He made the 505lb deadlift look like PVC.

Lance brought his A-game even though the programming didn't favor him. He came in two spots behind Jason Khalipa on the run (last male), but he made it through to the end of Day 1. In fact, he moved up 12 spots in the fifth event, the high volume wallball/snatch Couplet. He went from 53rd to finishing 41st overall.

The bottom line is that Lance Mosley is fittest man alive who has ever produced a +2,000lb powerlifting total.

couch never mentioned @F's ability to take a 705# DLer and suck 100+ pounds from it. He must have lost those short-term memory cells. The audacity of @F to write that last line isn't surprising, but it's not hard for Mosley to be given that circle-jerk crown when he didn't compete against anyone else who had a 2000#+ PL total in these events!!!

The bottom line really is that now that Lance is an @Fer, he will never have a 2000#+ PL total again. Yay, @F! You've taken another elite athlete who was highly competitive in a REAL sport, only to make him into an above-average competitor in "trying to be the best at exercising". Bravo. Keep doing what you do best, you've got this down!

For those of you wondering why I din't compete these year here it goes:

Two weeks prior to the Games i pulled something in my lower back pretty bad while training. I had all intentions to still compete hoping for workouts that didn't put too much strain on my back as it wasn't 100% by "GO DAY"(The Games). Unfortunately as we all know we don't find out the WODs until the day before. As soon as i saw the second event with heavy deadlifts i had to make a tough decision, and believe me it was tough! I actually thought about it all day Friday but made the decision and pulled myself out. There is always next year!

I'm going to try to avoid sounding like a braggart. After a year of intense CF, good sleep and good eating, I fill out shirts (and pants) substantially. To remain inconspicuous, I would pretty much have to wear a circus tent.

Now, when I'm around other CFers, all is well, because my body isn't out of the ordinary and doesn't draw many comments. However, I went to a party of regular folks last night, which was refreshing, but...

Most of the guests I was meeting for the first time, and the others I had not seen in several years. I got asked at least twice how much I benched, and when I said "well I haven't benched in ages, but I squat/DL X much", nobody knew what I was talking about. I also got comments like "No homo, but you're f****** yolked" and "Well, you look like Arnold Schwarzenegger"

To quote some nameless feminist: "I'm not just a piece of meat!" If I may say so, I have plenty of interesting pastimes and hobbies that I would love to talk about, but it seemed like every conversation I tried to strike up somehow ended up veering back to "dude, flex!"

So...I'm sure I'm not alone in this. To those of you who are visibly "built", what's your strategy when meeting new, non-CF people to avoid becoming just "that one crazy buff guy/chick"?
