Fun.

Kipping jackass says:
Fall from the Pull Up Bar, internal brusing in the kidney area?

While doing the WOD in my local Affiliate yesterday, my hands slipped of the bar during the kip swing and I fell to the floor landing on the right hand side of my lower back. This severely winded me and needless to say I do not finish the workout.

I have visited my local hospital and they are happy that I have no skeletal damage and that I have some soft tissue bruising around the kidney area and they have gave me some pain killers. What is the best way to speed up recovery ice or heat, and are they any recommendations on training/stretching/rest time?

Any help will be very much appreciated as I am due to go on holiday on Thursday and would like to be as comfortable as possible for the trip, I was going to try and visit the local Crossfit Affiliate while I was away .....

I did nearly the exact same thing a few days ago. I havent gone to see the doctor yet thought. I suppose I probably should.

Are you seriously posting pics of overhead squatting poor African kids while on vacation?

WTF!
lol nice. What makes you think those are poor African children. They are well dressed, playing in the playground and lack distended abdomens. I am sure that shot will bring in the brothers...but not in a good way. We need "Jamilla" to rule on that one, fo shizzle.

Wrong. That's not a playground, it's a Sudanese torture camp. And those aren't frolicking children at play, they're prisoners of war about to be executed. The crossfitters are holding them up so the firing squad can get a more level shot.

You just threw me off by posting those. I was thinking I had to leave for work way earlier than I thought.

Androgen Friday has created a Pavlovian response in me already.

Decent post from JP at @fit Greyskull.
Here is an email I recently received. Emails like this have become relatively common, which makes me happy. As I have stated in numerous posts, I hate to see people waste their time, energy, and money listening to individuals (most of whom are CrossFit affiliates or "certified" trainers, not a slam, but a simple statement of fact based on my experiences) who have no business giving away information on strength and conditioning, nutrition, fat loss, mass gain etc., let alone charging someone for it. Whether or not I ever train these people is irrelevant. What is important however is that they are realizing that they aren't making progress, and are at least in the beginning stages of doing something about it.

Hi,
I was wondering if you have time in the next few weeks if we can meet up? I go to (facility name removed). Paraphrase: I like the people and atmosphere where I go, but I am intrigued by your program. Let me know if this is something you are ok with or if you would rather not have someone doing 2 different things.
Today I went and I was out of there in a half hour after doing (Details mindless workout). I don't think I am doing as much as I am capable of and after (period of time spent training, more than half a year) months I still can't do a full plank push up or any kind of pull up without assistance.
I am stronger and I have seen results, there is no doubt about that - but I think you know what I mean.
My goal is to get stronger. I'm (lists stats)
Hope to hear from you soon,
Name Removed

My reply:
______ I would be happy to meet with you at any point and share advice or information.
I would like to say however that I do not work with individuals who train at any other facility or under the guidance of anyone else (Competitive athletes with position or skill coaches not included). My position on this matter has nothing to do with competition with businesses or anything along those lines. Quite frankly, (Name of facility) is not a competitor of mine, we are not in the same business. People come to me to get stronger, faster, bigger, leaner, or whatever the case may be in their unique situation. If I am to work with someone it is important that all of their efforts are synergistic in nature and congruent with their goals. My job is to facilitate results and in order for me to do that, the individual needs to not be receiving "guidance" from others whose mission is to entertain or provide an environment for people to get together and enjoy each others company and encouragement under the guise of providing some sort of "fitness" service that we cannot see demonstrated but are told is there.
I think that if you are happy doing what you are doing, then keep doing it. (Number greater than 6 removed) months is a terribly long time to "train" without being able to do a pull up, let alone a single pushup. This is what troubles me. You mentioned that your goal was to get stronger, and that you have gotten stronger. My question would be how much stronger could you have gotten if you still cannot do a pushup?
I am available most weekdays to meet up, and select weekend hours. Let me know if you would like to get together, I'm sure we can make it happen.

Definitely NOT @F. The cult will be coming to educate him...

I find it humorous that Robb Wolf is doing the @F nutrition certs and is being called a pseudo-scientist by the L1 trainers presenting their whole half-hour Zone crash course.

No one can keep their mouth shut anymore, at least not the intelligent ones still benefitting from @F.com's links...

Crossfit is about bieng fit not just looking good.
Why do they always bring that up? They imply that they don't care how they look at all. Honestly, who out there doesn't want to look good? No sane person wants to look like shit.

P90x would more than prepare an average person for whatever life throws at them.

Yeah, nothing wrong there. A little mystified by the "notsexy" label on the image.

I would hit this, but she has turned a bit much for my tastes. Few years ago there were tons of chix with rockin bodies doing @fit and only a rare she-beast (Eva). Now the Kelly Moores have taken over and even hot chicks are rampling up the andro factor. The gaymes page is 5:1 he-shes over doables

JP's answer is good, and it may even be true if we were talking about a lesser program....you know something that doesn't forge elite fitness. But since this is a @fit box the person goes to, it's the wrong answer.

The only right answer to not being able to do a full plank push up or a pull up of any kind is obvious.....IT' NOT THE PROGRAM IT'S THE ATHLETE.

Seriously though, if the trainee can't do those particular things then it probably is his or herself at fault in 90% of the cases. You really shouldn't need much specialized programing to get to A push-up.

Also, LOL at the continued fellating of @Fit Greyskull. In the land of @Fit he is surely awesome but I really don't think there needs to be daily updates on what he does right (ie, normal for everywhere else).

This thread should clearly be about @Fit faggots fucking themselves up.
