What happens to those guys when they get out of the service? What kind of life do they lead when they are brainwashed with this mentality? Serious question.[/quote]
They come back to Civ. life and start Target Focus Training or SCARS, ala Tim Larkin or Jerry Peterson and make bagloads of $$$. Oh wait, Johno shot Tim's cred's all to hell on DD.

If you were willing to accept anecdotal evidence, I'm sure that my BB's, johno's and my own experiences, and collective surprise at your remark, would have been enough to convince you that a warrior ethos provides the foundation of military leadership.Doughboy wrote:Please prove that it exists.steamboatwillie wrote:This is easily one of, if not the, stupidest statement ever made in the history of IGx.Doughboy wrote:The warrior ethos is non-existent.
I don't suppose that is sufficient for you, so I suggest you re-read "On Killing," which you yourself recommended to us in the PR forum, and do so more closely. It's loaded with concrete examples of this ethos shaping mens' actions under extreme duress and adhering to a code of conduct that you now claim is non-existent.
Alternately, you could just prove that it doesn't exist.

Whether you are kicking somebodies ass in the air, on the ground, on the mat or on the field, or even in the boardroom, it is all about something very luch like the warrior ethos.
In a highly feminized society, it is just frowned on publicly.
Until it is needed.

An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
But Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool - you bet that Tommy sees!

Wow.
New stuff. Dan John was CCed on an email where Greg Glassman said this about him:
Note, this was highly edited. I also received this email in the same CC that Dan did.
You can see the deleted and edited post in the Pukie's Bucket section, as well as some general nutswinging, spindoctoring, and overall lying by a guy named Ronnie Boose, from Santa Cruz, who can join Tony Budding on the list of known Crossfit lie-men, and scumbag cult spindoctors.

Dan's reply was interesting, but was quickly deleted from the "Community" section of the Crossfit message board, and edited by Lynne Pitts, who's becoming a regular little spin doctor and skilled in the repression of negative comments upon Glassman's behaviour on the forum. The geist of Dan's reply was that upon these events, some 8 months ago, he removed all Crossfit materials from the school he taught/coached at, erased the named "girl" workouts listed on whiteboards, and took the program in another, more productive, direction, abandoning the Crossfit stuff.Just for the record: What happened with Dan John was that he wouldn't admit his professional and extensive use of gifted CrossFit intellectual property when publicly challenged to respond to claims of our having derived CrossFit from his work. And (edited) has found it OK to repackage and promote CrossFit as his own work - "confusing free speech with free beer" to quote Eric Raymond, the open source guru. This "borrowing" continues to this very day. (Consider this in light of (edit) much ballyhooed stand on HIS intellectual property and Dan's professional role in the Catholic Church.)

Dan sez:
Me sez:I make a point about an email concerning me and "poof" post vanishes...
I just wanted to include Dan's comments and mine here, for posterity's sake.Oh yeah, and the spindoctoring started almost immediately. All that's left is for someone who's name rhymes with "Rony Studding" to send a loosely worded, vague threat to someone else via email.

Oh yeah, I saw it. It's like couch receives every question or perceived negative comment as a threat to "his" program. He's mental.bill fox wrote:Did you see the one related to this one. Sweet! Who sent the e-mail? Was this something that Couch sent to someone who in turn forwarded it to Dan, or did Couch send an open letter to lots of people himself? Was he asked for info about DJ or did he just decide to broadcast this 6+ months after the fact?Shaf wrote:Wow.

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.
