Oh.You can stack up several abmats underneath your head, and remove them as you become more proficient to increase your depth.

Maybe he'll be featured on A&E's "Intervention", they did have a few elite athletes, a former pro cyclist and a an "Olympic hopeful" thrower. Maybe they'll feature the man behind the athletes forging elite addictions...in mean elite fitness.Rant wrote:This just in. I thought we had grown beyond the MMA home gym in general but nope, the badasses at @fit are still on that horse: http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=39185
For real, I thought this stopped when John Lober went to prison the last time.

The Crossfit games are so big now that they need to have "regional qualifiers"
Hi everyone. My name is Jeff Tincher. I will be coordinating a Regional Qualifier for the 2009 CrossFit Games. Tanya Wagner from CF Apex and Jerry Hill from CF OldTown will also be helping me.
The region is composed of 1) Virginia, 2) West Virginia, 3) Maryland, 4) D.C., 5) Delaware,6) and Pennsylvania. There are 66 Affiliates in this region. The top 6 male and female competitors out of our region will qualify for the 2009 Games. The Qualifier will be held at CF Fairfax, and the tentative dates are April 25th and 26th. The qualifier will be 3 events over 2 days.Due to amount of planning and logistics involved, I need to know by December 10th if your affiliate will be interested in participating. The number of affiliates participating, will determine the amount of athletes that each affiliate gets to send.
This is all I have for now. As soon as I get more information, I will pass it along to you.
Sincerely,
Jeff T.

LOL! It's not the size. You make the chumps pay twice, and you keep a real athlete who doesn't do CF (e.g. Everett) from showing up on a whim and mugging the kool-aid drinkers.Stillwater wrote:The Crossfit games are so big now that they need to have "regional qualifiers"
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Re: The couch thread
So I just had this epiphany: Cooch called Dan John a few weeks back to make amends. He could have called some of the others (hell, he extended the olive branch to Robb Wolf).Rant wrote:I'm just the messenger but an ebedded source has intimated this information to me.Banned wrote:whaaaa?Rant wrote:This just in. Isn't that one of the 12 steps? Making amends with those you've wronged in the past due to your drinking.

Well that clinches it in my mind.

That would be step 9. Couch would have one hell of an 8th step list.Banned wrote:So I just had this epiphany: Cooch called Dan John a few weeks back to make amends. Not a chance. Couch needs his Tanqueray like Popeye needs his spinach. Remember what happened when Lattimer when he flushed his Anadrol? He wasn't the same guy. Glassman will figure that out soon. Drink is the sine qua non of Couch's existence.Youngman wrote:Now, this sucks. We'll have to find new ad hominem against the fat wigged cult leader.

Not to interupt the flow of conversation, but Poliquin smacks down the monstrosity that is @fit once again:

This needs to be posted on @fit. Like kicking an anthill. I love their replies to real criticism, like "Well, of course elite athletes won't train like this because they are "specialists". Haha, losers! We are good at everything!". On the same webpage will be something like "Crossfit: Forging Elite Fitness".

Uh, no. The reason they did so well is because skiing and pole vaulting are sports in which somebody who's never done it is highly likely to bomb out when tested. A pole vaulter can throw a discus for a shitty distance, but a thrower may not be able to vault at all. If you're averaging scores, a zero or two is very powerful.Side note: In Hungary, they used to have a competition where the athletes had to do all sports... except their own. Pole vaulters would always win. (Skiers would come in second.)
Why pole vaulters? Aside from the balls it takes to do that event in the first place, they need speed, lower- and upper-body strength, and great time and spatial awareness. They're freaks — athletes who can do anything.

Poliquin's criticisms were weak initially. Not as weak as Boyle's, but weak. These seem a bit better thought out and echo criticisms that were made years ago by guys like Rant and myself.
Note that he's moved away from the really denigratory tone in previous pieces.
Of course, it doesn't impact the popularity of @F, but it does get the koolaid drinker's riled up.
