That blonde doing the muscle-up is bad. I'd butter her muffin in a second. Repeatedly. She reminds me of Jennie Finch.

Re: The couch thread
That simply caught my attention since the back lever is something I worked very hard to get (and only just barely got) for the shows put on by the gymnastics club I'm part of at UMD.Gin Master wrote:You're doing it again, POD. This week's batch of photos are far more attractive than usual. Clearly everyone's trying to get clean before the testing at the games.

Thought this was funny, in the @F-as-cult-religious-fitness sort of way:
Evangelize
Evangelize
This is good, for those of us who understand @F. Immediate d-bag identification done for you!Skip Chase has an excellent video on the affiliate page about evangelizing for your CrossFit gym.

So try these things:
1. EVERY time you introduce yourself, say "Hi, I'm XXX from CrossFit." Every time.

Re: The couch thread
A firefighter came into my office, we started talking. It would seem that once @F started infecting his department, injuries started piling up. He wrote @FHQ, he got the standard, "It's not the programming, it's the athlete" blanket denial. So, with time on my hands I figured I'd peruse the injury board today...
Two weeks ago today I tore my pec doing muscle ups.
I just had a surgery for a torn labrum in my right shoulder last week that required 6 screw anchors to repair the labrum. [...]
I think it was just over time. The one movement that really set it off was HSPU's on parallettes and muscle ups in excess of 30. It finally got to the point where it was affecting my sleep so I decided to go see an orthopedic specialist. It so happens that my wife is an ortho PA in addition to one of my instructors. I did cortisone injection 2x followed by NSAIDs for 2 months and 6 weeks of no shoulder/overhead work following the two months of NSAIDs. The results were the same, so we took the next step which was the MRI. The MRI showed suspicions for a SLAP tear but nothing concrete. The plan was to go in, verify and trim as needed. Once they were in, they discovered that I had torn my labrum from front to back, had also slightly torn the bicep tendon, and had cartridge floating in the rotator cuff. They inserted 2 anchors in the front of the labrum, 2 in the top, and two in the rear.
I just did a wod that had kte's in it and I was using a kipping motion to get through them in nice quick rhythm. Yesterday afterwards I was fine. Today when I woke up my lower back is killing me. It's hard to put on shoes, pants, anything that requires bending.
I was doing the thruster and double under workout today and I hade to drop all the weight off of the thursters because it hurt too much with weight. It was bearable with just the bar. It was not the extension that hurt, it was catching the weight at the bottom of the rep.
That last one is just hi-larious. And to think, this was only the first page and the entries that people directly attributed to @F workouts...So I was minding my own business, making a peanut butter sandwich the other day, and next thing I know I'm howling on the floor with lower back pain.

I was looking at pictures of labrum tears (FYI, it's "labrum", not "labia". Some pretty sick things come up if you get that wrong) when I ran across this totally unrelated picture on Flickr:
Happy Tears

We have a new president! After some celebrating and champagne, a quiet moment brings tears of joy, of relief, of hope...
I found it to be hilarious and pathetic at the same time. And to think the bitch posted that shit up instead of deleting it and then throwing her hard drive into a cauldron of molten lead to delete all evidence of how lame she really is. Instead she's like "Wow, I'm sooo ecstatic that we just elected another career politician - who's going to do the same shit as every other politician has done - to office. Hurrayyyyy!"

Re: The couch thread
hands are f**ked from pullups but getting nowhere
Hey guys,
Im really struggling with kipping pullups, I'm getting there gradually but the most I've knocked out in one set is about 9. Its really frustrating as my hands are all ripped up and when they just start healing theres another WOD which kills them again. Is it just a gradual thing that I will get more and more in succession and my hands will also toughen up ?
Also when doing WODs and one of the exercises is say 50 pullups, If you can make say 30 before the sets turn into 1,1,1,1,1,1 is it better to do jumping pullups or to just tough it out until you get to the 50 (this is what I have been doing)
any help is much appreciated.

If you're afraid of getting hurt on the rings then crossfit doesn't want you, but if you're couch and you get hurt on the rings it's a lifetime pass to become a drunk slob.
CF doesn't want couch, and couch doesn't want CF.
Thank god someone thought of the RRG so couch can be insulated from himself.
