And let’s not forget SHAF the pajama clad postulator extolling opinions on a dozen different fitness forums 10 to 12 hours a day including major holidays.

That's exactly what I notice when I watch your videosGenerally I notice the same thing. High reps seem to help "teach" the correct form if you will.
Re: The couch thread
Boom.....
As an @fit affiliate I'd have to agree with pretty much everything he wrote about and why I'm not pushing myself as an affliate any more although I still have until May 2010 on my agreement.

Re: The couch thread
Rip used to give his own Starting Strength seminars. Then he joined up with @F, who likely had a non-compete agreement.
I'm guessing Rip got fed up with the @FHQ BS, and left to do his own seminars again. He'll likely still be doing many at @Fs, he simply now has the ability to also do them at good gyms.
This likely won't affect @F Wichita Falls one bit (until Rip is totally fed up, that is).

Which ones take quite a few supplements? I know Josh Everett does from his video, but Jason Kalipa said he doesn't take anything at all. I also seem to remember Spealer not taking much if anything, but can't quite remember? Which ones take supplements? I'm not accusing you of being wrong, I'm just interested to know which top level CFers take what supplements.[/quote]

I'm pretty sure Josh Everett is the only one who takes supplements, and it's because he was diagnosed with having adrenal fatigue and the supplements are ways of combating it.
Look at the bottom of the page for info on suppplements, but the only one you really need is fish oil.

Found this quote from "Supertraining" when I was paging through it this morning during class:
Fuck that, I just need to work on specialization in reducing my cycle time by .0256 seconds on butterfly pull-ups to set my 7.85541 second FRAN record so I can increase my POWER OUTPUT by 4.53336243%Only competitive athletes have to train to compete against the clock; the average gym client is there to enhance fitness or shape and should reject unnecessary intimidation by a clock or instructor

The @fit Gaymes were a tested competition
No one at the @fit Gaymes got popped
Ergo, @fit is drug free
Logic, see?

Now look. I've eaten a pice of pie.
When we spin the pie again, the area cut out of the volume of the sphere equals fitness.

Re: The couch thread
So Tate is looking at Gregg A's Fran and picking it apart. I can hear all the mananorexics bitching "I'd like to see Tate do Fran!". They pick on the fat guys, unless it's couch. I think that the tips from Tate were spot on. I want to see the reaction to the "arced plan wasting power vs. a straight up and down pull up". he didn't go all the way to kipping is wasted power, but he was heading in that direction. Interesting.
Kills Annie and Helen...CF Total is still at 300lbs but getting better! The Zone works!

Interesting that he immediately picks out mechanical flaws that his elite couches have missed for the last decade.CultBuster wrote:So Tate is looking at Gregg A's Fran and picking it apart. But I'm not sure about the pull-ups. I've seen Gregg's Fran vids before, and he doesn't seem to have that loopy acrobat kip that most of the women use. His is just a little swing and a leg kick. And it will take a bad motherfucker to bust out that many pull-ups dead hang as fast as kipping. I hate to say it, but that butterfly kip bullshit seems to be the fastest way to get up and down. Probably the fastest way to a jacked up shoulder and elbow as well.

Re: The couch thread
TOO MUCH STUPID SHIT TO EVEN POST
Who is Cash Reynolds? Google Dave Tate...Dave's responses were in fact intelligent; they were just lacking in exposure. I wouldn't fault someone for failing to see at first glance that a kipping pullup is actually the mechanically faster & more efficient path for a core-to-extremities contraction that moves the body up to the bar, back down and back up again.
(That's a complex movement that people always oversimplify -- but up-down is not how the body can most efficiently move. The kipping pullup uses the stronger core musculature first, and the dimensions of the limbs and positions of the joints that must close determines the rest. The butterfly kip is in fact the fastest and most efficient path for the body to meet the bar and return.)
It's unfortunate, at this meeting it doesn't seem like Dave Tate really got as much as he could and should have. He didn't seem to get that fitness is about work capacity and that work capacity is about foot-pounds per second across various time domains. And, that this fitness is most central and most essential to the broadest applications of human performance.
He needs to wake up and realize just how narrowly his specialty applies to human performance, in comparison to the work capacities we develop. He seems like an independent thinker and self-educated guy who really values truth, so in a different context (when he's not in front of a camera, perhaps) he may be able to set his Public Relations face and ego aside and start recognizing CrossFit's mastery of the art and science of GPP.

Cash Reynolds...Dave Tate is the founder and CEO of Elite Fitness Systems, staffed by experienced professionals dedicated to providing strength coaches, athletes and trainers with the highest-quality equipment, personalized service and extensive knowledge needed to advance their training programs.
Dave has been involved with powerlifting for more than two and a half decades as a world-class participant, coach and consultant. He has logged more than 10,000 hours of personal training and strength consulting sessions with professional, elite and novice athletes, as well as with professional and university strength coaches. He holds Elite status in powerlifting (in three weight classes) with best lifts of a 935 squat, 740 deadlift, 610 bench press and 2,205 total.
This athlete-entrepreneur earned a Lifetime Achievement award in 2005 from the Society for Weight Training Specialists.
So how is it so hard to get that Dave Tate is not coming to @Fit to learn anything. he is coming to TEACH them shit. WTF would Tate take away from a @Fit seminar other than why would I hace any of my athletes doing this dumb shit. I asked him about my thrusters being weak when I met him at a seminar, he laughed and said at least my real lifts were decent and to stop doing thrusters.good friend Cash Reynolds. He has a CrossFit Affiliate in Peoria. Cash is monster strong ( His Power Snatch PR is 205) Cash stomps his feet. I like stomping my feet.

You missed the point. Tate is there to SELL. Cultfitters are there to regurgitate, and to sacrifice their dollars to Couch Corp.
