Now that's some serious shit right there.

From a 2003 WOD posting.

I think I've seen one other picture of him doing a front lever. I've never seen anything else. Who knows how long, if at all, those positions were held.

As for Weight Vest Girl and her ripped hands (making the introductory handy a no-go); I saw a gal wearing a weight vest at the gym just the other night (may have been when I spotted slipshot and his andro-Asian girl).
Yeah, so, she's wearing a weight vest. . .on the elliptical. That's fucking elite, right there.

Seriously, with as short as couch is, along with his notable lack of any leg mass whatsoever, this really isn't that big of a deal. Trulyz.

We certify our bells as 9/11 Scrap Free™ Why take a chance on something like this? Is that bondo on the handle or a melted stapler?

Can anyone verify this actually is the couch in this photo? Except for the distended stomach, it really doesn't look like him.

BTW, I spent a lot of time searching for ANY kind of background on the couch with reference to coaching, education, ANYTHING and can find nothing at all other than he is the president of a printing company called @Fit, Inc.

Looks enough like a younger (!) couch to pass for me. Seriously, how many gym-NASTs can't do a front and back lever?

Couch's gymnastics career is shouded in mystery. Somewhere he has a buncha trophies with 'participant' on them IMO, as if he'd ever won anything, we'd have heard about it.

Best guess: Couch did the move on the rings after someone challenged his ass to do something back in 2003, got his "shoulder injury" that he always goes on and on about now, then settled for killing the pain with massive amounts of gin.

Or maybe that is the infamous "ring accident", in a drunkin' stooper he accidentally stumbled over the rings and ripped out some levers.

Kind like how Peter Griffin can only play the piano when he's wasted.

Agreed. So where are the rest of the pics? Didn't that douchenozzle poster say that there were "many"?

The embarrassing thing for all of these haters on here is that, over the course of CrossFit.com's existence, there have been multiple pictures of Coach performing gymnastics movements that most on here will never be able to perform.
My mistake. He said "multiple" which is technically accurate.

He also claimed that these moves (shown in these two pics) are moves that most will NEVER be able to do.

NEVER.

Couch doing them clearly demonstrates that they are skill movements. For cultfitters still confused, this means YOU GET BETTER AT STUFF BY PRACTICING IT. Fran doesn't apply though of course. And, don't forget, nature punishes the specialist.*

*unless it turns out God is a gymNAST and demands you do a front lever prior to entering heaven, in which case, YOU'RE screwed.

Bill Starr condemning the @F approach in a @FJ article, of all places:
http://journal.crossfit.com/2009/05/the ... aining.tpl
The main problem with routines that consist of numerous exercises is only so much energy is available. When it’s spread out over a dozen or more movements, none receive much attention. Therefore, we do not get stronger.

It’s my observation that those in charge of putting together strength programs in high school, colleges and professional sports have reverted back to the same mistakes their predecessors made in the ʼ60s. There are far too many exercises in nearly every program I’m asked to examine. In truth, the athletes who are using this multi-layered concept aren’t getting that much stronger. They might get a little stronger, but not nearly as much as if they had applied all their energy to moving iron.

I did a front lever the first day I got my Tyler rings like 5 years ago.

couch sez:
couch wrote:Criteria for (exercise) selection include, range of joint motion, uniqueness of line of action, length of line of action, strength of line of action, commonness of motor pattern, demands on flexibility, irreducibility, utility, foundational value, measurable impact on adherents, and, frankly, potential for metabolically induced comfort.
Louie Simmons sez:
http://library.crossfit.com/free/video/ ... hSetUp.wmv

There is an obvious place in the video where Louie has obviously found the main benefit of @F seminars, when he gets close with Asstro's away-from-home squeeze.

As previously stated, Westside and @F will be like oil and vinegar soon enough...when the irritation outweighs the $$ and women.

I believe it's couch. I can go a year without throwing a punch and still deliver a knockout blow. It's built in. That pic was also 7 years ago before couch could afford to drink in the manner he is now accustomed to. He's too pickled to accomplish such feats during this his era of wine and roses.
