Is there anyone at HQ who could genuinely be described as "classy and decent"? Serious question.

Kristan Clever is legit. She's strong as fuck and from my few interactions with her seems a pretty decent person. Nice of HQ to bury her win in small print.

Congrats to Boto for winning the @fit gaymes, Ambiguous Division.
Well done.
Fucking HQ? Like they have an ounce of sense. What do you all think they would do? Ask yourselves this:
WWGGD? He wouldn't tap that winner's ass; that's fo sho.

I met her at a cert I went to when I was downing the Kool Aid still. I think she was fairly new to the cult like I was at the time. She was very nice and was very quiet at the time also. I do remember thinking she may be a he though.lasalle wrote:Kristan Clever is legit. She's strong as fuck and from my few interactions with her seems a pretty decent person. Re: The couch thread
I'm a block away from @fit LA right now. Drove by and saw some poor schmuck sitting on the corner holding the stop sign for support.
Looked like someone just kicked him in the nuts.
I was going to drop by and say Hi, but I thought better of it.

Didn't know Jackie Chan won this year's gaymes.

Thats too funny that you could tell that he had been kicked in the nuts. I was walking by and he tried handing me a flyer, so I kicked him in the nuts.

Re: The couch thread
I'm a little bit disappointed at the lack of hate for this guy here on IGX. Besides his ridiculous email signature, @fit was kind enough to provide a video that qualifies him boldly for the title "Douchebag of the Month": http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/Cros ... rd_PRE.movYes I Have Balls wrote:Oh lookee, the "world record holder for box jumps replied to my email calling him a fraud:
Ryan Moody
WRA World Record Holder
Highest Standing Box Jump
A little preview: "On like lift days, I implement some of the Westside Barbell stuff" and "I did Isabel from my knees with 45 (!) pounds". What the fuck? First of all that faggot desperately needs a diet of deadlifts and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. Those skinny @Fit cocksmokers piss me off, especially when they are flailing around wearing Progenex T-shirts. And secondly, when I hear "I did Isabel from my knees" I expect a lot better than a dude jumping around with an empty bar.
Finally he should shut the fuck up about his stupid record. Olympic weightlifters are known to be great jumpers while actually being strong men, looking like strong men and training for a sports competition like real men. I bet I could go to some chinese training camp and find 20 guys who could crush Mr. Moody's gay ass record without even breaking a sweat.
Well congratulations to Kristan for winning the gaymes. It's sad to know that this won't change anything. She's an ugly ass girl, so the @fit community doesn't give a fuck about her. And she won the gaymes, so nearly a 100% of the world's population doesn't give a fuck about her. She'll be forgotten in no time.lasalle wrote:Kristan Clever is legit. The reality is that no matter who wins, in a year no one will remember. Fall off a chinup bar, drop a barbell on your head, or piss yourself at the bottom of a squat and the Internet will never forget you.
Nobody remembers who took Gold in ski jumping in '88 but everybody remembers Eddie the Eagle.

Re: The couch thread
The hipster thread got me thinking...
Are @Fers the fitness world equivalent of hipsters? I say they are. Discuss.
http://www.ehow.com/about_5082352_hipster.html
It would seem pretty easy to substitute in the appropriate terms and brands, however, I'd like to leave this to someone wittier than I. I wish Kraj were still around, if only to take on this artistic mission.

The 1990s
In the 1990s, "hipster" again came into common use, this time referring to young, middle-class city dwellers who adhere to specific trends. Because the trends hipsters associate themselves with are constantly changing, the definition of "hipster" is likewise in a constant state of flux. Hipsters generally espouse some form of antiestablishment culture, rejecting mainstream trends in favor of alternative fashion, music or philosophy.
Characteristics
Hipsters are not confined to any specific location, though hipster communities exist in most large and medium-sized U.S. cities. Hipsters are generally young, ranging from their late teens to early or mid-thirties. As a function of their urban setting, they are a multiethnic group, often reflecting the cultural diversity of their city. Contemporary hipsters are associated with an ever-growing list of specific cultural practices and institutions, including alternative music, independent film, local media, National Public Radio, vegetarianism, organic food products, atheism, liberal political views, vintage clothing, single-gear (fixed-gear) bicycles and environmental consciousness.
Cultural Backlash
While hipsters are defined by elements of nonmainstream cultural practice, there is a contradiction in the increasing popularity and commodification of the hipster lifestyle. This has been the case for a number of fringe movements in the United States, including grunge, punk and hippie subcultures. Hipsters are often criticized for what some see as a hypocritical outward appearance of embracing radical ideas while actually adhering to a specific set of rigidly defined cultural guidelines.

It would seem pretty easy to substitute in the appropriate terms and brands, however, I'd like to leave this to someone wittier than I. I wish Kraj were still around, if only to take on this artistic mission.
Re: The couch thread
the hipsters can't achieve true eleetness without their overly aggressive tees....this one obviously inspired by BMac'n'Cheeze et al.

Last year, these were done with the quickness.
I guess Kristan and Graham's 15 minutes of fame is already up.

They were push presses and jerks. Also, the numbers were inflated because those morons couldn't convert from kilos to pounds.theoverman wrote:these overhead press results are impressive... no leg drive right?
At the Gaymes max overhead event,
60kg = 135lb
80kg = 185lb
90kg = 205lb
110kg = 255lb
130kg = 305lb
140kg = 325lb
Re: The couch thread
Yes,it takes a genius to convert kilos to pounds.......

I think this would be hilarious, but I am pretty sure they actually did use LB bumper plates - that's all Rogue has.Chaos Mitten wrote:

Also, I haven't seen the videos, but "shoulder to overhead" may also mean that they were allowing for a behind-the-neck jerk.

the plates at the Games were marked in kilos. I have photographic evidence. Although to be honest it was a few days before I noticed that they were even in the pictures. They were even the correct colors too.Tim wrote:I think this would be hilarious, but I am pretty sure they actually did use LB bumper plates - that's all Rogue has.Chaos Mitten wrote:

I don't know who did it, but I was watching the max overhead event and noticed that all the weights the announcer was calling out were incorrect. Then I checked the official results and saw that they were also wrong.WildGorillaMan wrote:the plates at the Games were marked in kilos. I have photographic evidence. They had the following bumpers: 25kg (red), 20kg (blue), 15kg (yellow), 10kg (green), and 10lb (black). They also had some 5 and 2.5lb metal plates.

This is the 1st annual CrossFit Endurance Series! The CFE series offer a challenging 5k 10K, 20k and team race. This race is 100% on looped trail run with hills and more hills. Along the course there will be ample aid stations.
5k $60
10k $80
20k $100
Team $500; CFE Members $335
Some thoughts on this:
1. $60 for a 5k is hilarity.
2. I'm sick of seeing BMack's bare chest every time I open something with CFE on it.
3. I hope an actual competitive runner wins this.
4. Shucks, if only I were a CFE member I would save $165 for my whole team.
5. Please tell me the aid stations are for the 20k only. Please.
