Further information about Lauren's lawsuit against @F Inc.:
http://anthosandcrossfit.blogspot.com/2 ... ainst.html
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/12483097/50138 ... 54047-.pdf
This suit alleges that Greg Glassman tried to purchase a private aircraft costing $700,000, using CrossFit Inc. money to make non refundable deposits back as far as November 2011. Lauren was unaware of this. The purchase was initially supposed to be for himself but he didn't have the means to fund it, so he tried to purchase it using HQ cash.

No wonder she didn't take the "better" offer from HQ. She knew they couldn't finance a $700,000 plane, how could they possibly beat a $20mm cash offer.

That you have to ask the question tells me you wouldn't even understand the answer.

Very nice. I think the real reason here is that Anthos will be much better at stopping this sort of thing than Lauren.

Berger's initial response to the plane story, now deleted and replaced with a more diplomatic response:
Image
Yes, this is a real document. It is a public filing available online. In summary, the document shows Lauren Glassman's attempt to block the corporate purchase of a private aircraft to be used by CrossFit.

Let's separate the facts in this doc from the unwarranted allegations ( and its worth noting that the Delaware court did not side with Lauren on this).

Plaintiff claims-
1. CrossFit was not financially ready to purchase this aircraft.
2. CrossFit didn't inform Lauren of the purchase until deposits had been made.

Claims by the "anonymous" operator of this website-
(who we know is a disgruntled ex-CrossFit employee who works for Lauren)

3. "The purchase was initially supposed to be for himself but he didn't have the means to fund it, so he tried to purchase it using HQ cash."

The document itself provides no evidence that claim 1 is true...Because its not. If CrossFit wasn't able to pay 700k for a company aircraft, VC's wouldn't be risking lawsuits to pay 20 million for a piece of the pie.

If claim 2 is true, it is because Lauren has never been a managing partner of CrossFit and only decided she should be a part of large financial decisions during her divorce from Greg.

Claim 3 Is actually refuted by the document, which states only that Lauren wasn't told if Glassman originally wanted the aircraft for private or corporate use. The fact that Company funds were used from the very beginning, and he never used private funds should be evidence enough that this is simply a lie.

What we are seeing is Lauren and Anthos cracking under the pressure of public rejection and trying to justify her sale by painting Glassman as incompetent.

How they will explain CrossFit’s unparalleled growth and financial success under Glassman’s leadership, or how they will prevent from further contradicting Bryan Kelly's own public statements supporting Greg’s management and leadership is yet to be seen.

I am a creature of the Main Page of CrossFit.com. For most of my time here I've been a member of the "cyber-gym" of athletes who post on the comments section there. Here is what I wrote there today:

"Alarm, fires, and firefighters. "Are they real fires? Or are people just reacting to something? Just because there's an alarm going doesn't mean it's a fire. And I think that people are confusing the two." --Chris Rock.

I'm always looking for the vocabulary to understand difficult concepts, to work my way through hairy situations. This was helpful.

Someone started a fire. In their heart of hearts perhaps they thought this was good. A cooking fire to fuel the growth of those present. A bigger fire, perhaps, to keep a bigger group warm. I'd like to believe this. I want to believe this. I'm need to believe this. Fire is powerful, and a purposeless fire set upon the landscape destroys all within its path. I can understand a fire STARTED, one that was put in the wrong place perhaps, with all control lost. I can't understand a fire that was SET, and so I choose to believe this was not so.

Alarms have been set off by this fire. Is it real? Are we simply reacting to the presence of the fire? Reacting too much? Too soon? I don't think so. I don't think that either we, the folks watching, or the firefighters, are over-reacting. The alarms this time are real. A fire has been started, for whatever reason, and it will neither feed nor bring warmth to those who are gathered. This fire will destroy the landscape if it marches unopposed.

The firefighters have been alerted. They have heard the alarm, indeed saw the fire well before the rest of us were aware it had even started. They are us, just like we know the firefighters we watch battle the wildfires out west are us. They are protecting us, after all, and we get this even if we are watching from afar.

Was the alarm too loud? Too soon? Does it really matter? The fire is raging in the wrong place for the wrong reason. It threatens destruction if allowed to burn. Fires are easier to fight if caught early, and fewer firefighters are hurt in the process. Why was the fire started? That part confuses me. I am saddened by the fire itself, saddened by my confusion about its origin. But unlike Chris Rock there is no doubt that there is a real fire behind that alarm.

So I am not confused at all right now. I stand with the firefighters. They are us. They are me. I stand with the leader of the firefighters. I stand with Coach.

He is one of us."

Jay (re: your sig), are you aware of the current state of BFB? You don't seem like the type to condone Buddha's alleged behavior.

Yea... I was focused on a CF reference and didn't see the (sig line)...

Ugh, I hope to FUCK this isn't true.... jesus no..

They kicked him out and verbally blasted him, thank god. I know White Trash Rob was abused as a kid and wrote a song about it on the first Ramallah EP. This is shit that would never fly with the rest of the band and if this accusation is true, I hope Buddha is locked up for a very long time.

That's cuz I edited it in, probably while you were replying. There seems to be many witnesses and they've booted him from the band. Sucks because I grew up on them as well and now I can't even listen to all the songs that used to get me pumped without feeling like a shithead.

Lawsuit filings need to get posted online? That's reasonable behavior?

The main thing about the plane purchase seems to me to not be about potential misappropriation of company funds...rather:

1) @F is making money hand over fist and they have the arrogance/desire to buy themselves a private plane for their jaunts.

2) @F Inc. spends nearly every dollar that comes in and is relatively cash poor month-to-month.

Could be both. Neither thought can really be avoided by even those in the community wearing rose-colored glasses.

I, for one, am shocked -SHOCKED, that a group of people who cannot periodize basic training progressions are also unable to plan and manage basic finances.
