On the preggo working aout, whatever. Women have been dropping kids whike working in the fields since forever.
Same for doing squats with a baby strapped on. Whatever.
This thread gets all fucking PC about other people's decisions. Let 'em do it, 6-7 billion folks on the planet, they all gonna die in the end.
And this constant making sure some asshole with a medical degree needs to be involved for just about anything, WTF? Avoid them as much as possible.

Re: The couch thread
Really?
What ever happened to "first do no harm".
It's one thing to do physical activity associated a job or even a sensible workout. It's something else entirely to do workouts that cause injuries in a normal "healthy" population.
I'm not saying a pregnant woman should be on bed rest, but there are real legitimate reasons not to do these stupid workouts when your in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
I remember a post not long ago talking about how overheating during pregnancy is very bad for the fetus ,the reason they tell them not to get into hot tubs. Also, something about how the hormones associated with pregnancy loosens connective tissue. That's can be a good combination with box jumps.

Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. - Helen Keller

Age and weight brackets in competitions? Who ever heard of such silliness?

Re: The couch thread
Seriously, the next thing they will do is start determining multiple winners...one for overall, then one for "actual work done". While this is normal in other strength competitions (weight and age classes), for @F this is a slippery slope that will lead to even more divisions than are normally used. The man in black wrote:Age and weight brackets in competitions? The main issue here is again, one of hypocrisy against purported early philosophies of @F, along the lines of "fitness doesn't care about weight classes or age groups, so we don't either"...evidenced by the original Games only having male & female classes and introducing Masters categories last year for the first time.
This is just another money grab to make more people think they are the "X# fittest person in their region for their weight/age class".

I find humor in the thought of someone claiming to be the 78th fittest Northeast regional 150-170 pound male 40-49 year old, but beyond that I just cant give a shit. Now submasters class and law enforcement/military/fire classes in powerlifting, that is something that does annoy me.

Fuck you, science! I'm a crossfitter!I'd Hit It wrote:That blog is interesting. Is anyone surprised the idiot is against vaccines?
It is understandable when women do not want stereotypes about their gender to hold them back from pursuing careers, education, or balancing a family and work life in an equal manner with their marriage partner. But the belief that pregnant women need to be a bit more careful and not go 110% physically, the recommendation that they not try to act as if they could do everything they could when not pregnant, these are not based in stereotypes, they're physiological reality. You can do a lot of stuff. Whether it's ultimately best for the health of you and your baby is another thing.
If you are so worried about what's going to happen to your body if you don't treat your WODs like a war and do box jumps and kipping pull-ups and what-have-you that you decide you're going to blindly keep pushing yourself through your pregnancy no matter what, don't get pregnant. There are inescapable physiological sacrifices that you have to make when pregnant, that is not sexist or stereotyping, it is the very nature of pregnancy itself. You don't have to be pregnant. Nobody is forcing you.
Like many crossfitters, I'm not one to blindly trust generally accepted health and medical "science" just because it's generally accepted. You could show me thousands of medical articles and ridiculous infographics about how meat is killing me and whole grains / low fat dairy are the secret to a healthy life, and it would not change the fact that I know eating paleo is the most healthy diet for me and my family.

I am so tired of @fitters being referred to as athletes. Athlete, warrior and badass have to be the most overused, tiresome, watered down words in the entire @fit lexicon. What a duck says wrote:Lulz. One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

Re: The couch thread
I really don't give a shit what this stupid cunt does for a workout, however I'm a bit more concerned about the psychological issues she has regarding herNow that the Open is over, I think I need a new crossfitting while pregnant goal to set my sights on because, I'll admit, I'm getting sick
of being pregnant while working out. Not that there's much I'm scaling or not doing -- I still do things like rope climbs, handstand walk,
and got a new 3RM on overhead squats yesterday of 140# (prior 3RM was 135# and 1RM is 145#). But, especially after watching everyone at
CrossFit 515 crush the Open wods, I'm getting anxious to be able to train as hard as I want again and get back to being able to do everything
I used to do.
priorities. Here fucking workout and getting back in with the gang a the gym appears to be more important than nurturing and bonding with her child. This
bitch will use her child as a weight as soon as she can and obviously she doesn't have a fucking clue how life turns inside out once a baby is actually here.
