I was thinking that those had to be the baldest beavers on the planet. Or maybe it's a huge bald rat and its baby. Actually, I have no idea what the fuck that thing is.Marc wrote:That has to be the hairiest fucking beaver on the planet.

Dawned on me while watching Casino Royale that @fit is the pursuit of pretending to be a badass secret agent man.

Cooch had nothing to say afterwards, and demanded Lynne close the thread.
That hairy coach up there kind of freaked me out and reminded me of the time I saw Miss Nude Southern States at a Deja Vu, with her enormous bush.

Accusing Dan of cowardice:
"I understand whoring, kind of, what I don't understand is cowardice. Sad display of values, Dan."
Pretty clear to me.
Deriding Dan's coaching experience:
"Dan's significant contributions to this community were for most of our leadership related to his charisma, charm, and humor and the values that he so openly claims and not his technical understanding of movement or his coaching prowess."
This is almost "disengenius" to use one of your favorite words. On one hand you use "significant contributions" and with the other you insult his coaching and teaching experience. Once again, pretty clear to me.
Regarding the challenge: Back out of what? Just like you, I don't recognize any other event other than my own "special" one that for which I am sure to be fully prepared. You love to throw that one out...like nobody suspects that a Crossfit trainer isn't especially good at Crossfit workouts. Don't worry, I don't plan on being around Santa Cruz anytime soon, your girls won't get a chance to humiliate me with a WOD.
And let's get this straight. I am not defending TC Luoma. I am not defending T-mag. I am not insulting the Crossfit methods and workouts, nor their use by soldiers or LEOs. If anything is being questioned, it's you and your penchant for flying off the handle and then blustering through and pretending you were never wrong. Arrogance and social ineptitude is what it seems like. This was illustrated in the exchange you had with young Josh earlier as well.
I agree with you, we sure have learned a lot. I'll be sure to add a big 5 stars to your last post, I appreciate you mentioning that board feature so often. If intellectual dishonesty is a core value for you, and one you wish to bring to the Crossfit community, then we are right on target.
Coach Shafman, you did own him with that post.
PL54, so what do you think of Gym Jones? Near as I can tell it's basically xfit with couch's pedantic preaching replaced by Twight's Dr. Doom persona, and some tailoring for enduro stuff. Some pissanting about form breaks allowed. Otherwise, identical.
Coming from the climbing world where I knew of him many, many years before I ever heard of xfit (and where he has a reputation zero tolerance of BS), it's been interesting to watch his trajectory.
Edit: This picture from Star Trek reminds me of the difference between them. (The programs GJ and CF, not the persons.)

I had a number of interesting emails with Mark and even contributed a workout. He's serious as a heart attack. The site is run on the "Fight Club" model. Prove yourself, and your in.
There's a FUCKING WORLD of a difference between Couch and Mark.
1) Mark, as Nafod points out, is a WORLD CLASSS ATHLETE. Like Nafod I was a climber and had read some of Mark's stuff before he popped up on the CF radar. So had lot's of others, which made him an immediate "voice" at CF, which Coach no likey.
2) Mark EXPERIMENTS ON HIMSELF. This alone forgives most any sin in my book. Mark is willing to do any workout he, or any other member of the club posts, he's even willing not to post the best time (although generally his times are excellent, particularly given his age).
3) Mark is ruthlessly SELF CRITICAL. We were discussing some aspect of training and he sent me an email that had to be 1000 words long. He was willing to question every one of his premises, despite his proven level of performance, and try them out on himself before trying them out on others.
In the end, for various personal/health reasons I had to move away from the GJ style of training and decline Mark's invitation to come out to GJ to train, a requirement before your "in". (I would note there was no fee associated with this, just "show up on the doorstep")
Mark came from the LSD world and CF style intensity was a revelation for him. He immediately started experimenting on himself and testing in the real world, which, as with most things, leads to lots of tweaking and in some cases, like weekly 2 hour medium intensity cardio workouts, some actual changes.
There's no question GJ is a CF style based plan. And in the case of GJ, it actually is based on Mark fnding CF. It has been improved, and "opened up" by a great athlete with a great mind. The fact that this great athlete with a great mind, along with many others, have found being associated with CF to be such a bad experience in the end speaks for itself.

Yes there is between the persons, but as you note there is minimal difference between the fundamental core of Gym Jones and xfit. That's the difference I'm talking about.bill fox wrote:There's a FUCKING WORLD of a difference between Couch and Mark.
When I first poked my head into xfit, Mark is what gave it street cred for me. As you note, he's a world class athlete and he experiments and adapts and tests it in the field, so I've been waiting for his program to drift away from xfit. Apart from the mods to train for long efforts in the mountains, I'm not seeing it yet.
