Kip-up technique - knee pain?
I was doing inverted burpees in a workout yesterday, each of which includes a kip-up, and after a bunch of reps I started to get some knee pain. I think the reason is that I'm landing in a squat, but I'm completely up on my toes - a bit like a Hindu squat. Without my heels on the ground, I feel enormous pressure on my knees. I'd never squat like that normally, but I can't find a way to do a kip-up and land on anything but my toes. Moreover, most of the youtube videos I've seen also show people landing on the toes.
Is this just the way a kip-up is done or is there some special technique to landing in a safer position?

The end is near for this fat boy IMO.Need Major Help!
ok guys so i started helping this kid i met train. He is 308 pounds under 5'7 i would say and 17 years old. I started putting him on some extremely scaled back WODS, for i worry over doing it will tear muscles and joints, as it seems he has never used them and really could do a lot of damage to himself just because he is so heavy.
Ive never seen drive from a kid like this, we had him doing one workout and not exaggerating must have thrown up 20 to 25 times. He just kept going even after we asked him to please stop. So i got respect for him being so motivated.

biceps...Shoulder Injury
I must be the most injury prone person on these boards. But anyway hurt my shoulder Saturday night. I was being stupid with a friend and he wanted to arm wrestle. After we played my shoulder had a horrible pain in it. I didnt feel anything pop or anything like that. So i went to bed and woke up the next morning and it was killing me. Now its tuesday and the pain has gone down a little bit but it still hurts when i do a certain movement. I can pick things up and put them down no problem. But the Motion to open a slidding glass door is nearly impossible because it hurts to bad. I decided to take a week off, take some ibprophen, ice, fish oil, and stuff like that. Anyone got any other ideas? Think its a big enough problem to see a doctor?
footbicep pain
hey guys got a reoccurring pain in my right bicep....place is palm up...toward the outside at the elbow...tried to do the workout DT today and really hurt during the cleans...idk if this means i might be trying to curl it a bit and not noticing, but the pain was bad...only could do 3 of the 5 sets and it made my whole right arm feel numb....im icing it right now...anything else i should do? add heat? anti inflammatorys?...should i be adding maybe a biceps workout? maybe my biceps arent strong enough? i dont know lol ...i really dont want to rest but i guess i can just do workouts that dont involve using my arms in anyway for maybe a week...needs to get better ASAP....summer is almost here! cant have this holding me back!...THANKS!
Generally being a faggotCronic Foot Pain
Hey guys ive been having foot pain in the inner arch of my left foot for a couple of years now. I first noticed it a few years ago playing golf, i used to play in a few tournaments a week and we have to walk the whole thing carrying our own clubs. I dont know if it was just my shoes or what but this is when it started happening. So its a tightening pain on the inside arch of my left foot, the thing is it doesnt hurt when i run, only when i walk for a while, or when i walk around in my vibrams!- which is crazy to me cause id think it would be better for my foot. Anyway the pain gets so bad that i have to walk on almost the side of my foot. Id go to the doctor but money is tight, but it just never goes away. Any suggestions?

Deadlifts!
doing 405, holding my breath, straining so hard it all comes out in some kinda roar that i dont mean to do, getting to the top, vision becomes tunneled, putting the weight back down, turning around and seeing 30 supplement users looking at me and wondering why that skinny dude can do that, as i stumble away with blood dripping down my shins.
Seems like the dude to go to for training advice, huh? Well apparently a lot of tards need this ass to train them.Treatment for Tendon/muscle pain
So i have this pain in my left shoulder and left bicept. Been taking Aleve so i dont have to deal with the pain. When to sports medicine guy and said i need to get a MRI but i dont have money for it now, and im not goina stop working out. So i was reading that like aleve if it a inflammation problem and then i was looking into it and wondering if it was a tendon problem....so i looked up and said that vitamin E and arginine might help with it.
Any suggestions? Id like to listen to the doctor but he didnt give me any clue till MRI which i cant afford....so ya
Help me for training a friend
Hi guys i got a kinda hard situation to figure out for a friend who wants some training. This girl is about 20 years old 115 pounds bout 5 foot 6 and is a smoker. She has recently got a new job at a place called bikini bar and needs to lose even more weight like get down to 105. I know i know its terrifying to drop weight like that and that she has to do it for a job, but shes going to do it weather i help her or not. I just want to try to help her do it healthily. Anyone got good ideas on how i should train her and a diet i should set up for her. I know im going to have to walk her in slowly, especially being a smoker, which i hope that in training will do away with itself. But ya guys any advice be great. Thanks

I'm going to guess that the guy quoted in T200's post is Asian. The speech is indicative of a suburban Asian college student. I'm not talking about the kind who wear thick glasses, have bowl cuts, and are conceptual physics majors at MIT. I'm talking about the guys who play tennis, hang out in front of Starbucks, and have 10,000 posts on every Honda Civic forum out there.
The clincher is that he plays golf. Only semi-successful Asians and rich white kids play golf at that age.

Re: The couch thread
I put it on the armwrestling comments for you.Quote:
I'm sure they won't hit, probably just total hand control and slow side pressure to the pad. You might see some broken arms though. In AW, you break your own arm by allowing yourself to get in a bad position. Specifically when you look away from your arm and are trying to pull. When this happens you get a spiral fracture of the humerus. A great rule for beginners is always look at your hand. This keeps your shoulder from getting ahead of your hand. However, if Brzenk just maintains hand control and some crossfitter starts hitting, looking away from his arm (cuz he won't do dick with Brzenk's hand), like most beginners do, he could easily break it. I'm sure they'll explain all of this and have a seasoned ref [COUCH???] but you never know.
My buddy that own's [a bar] had Brzenk and some other well-known guys up for a charity tournament he did. [The owner] told me Brzenk just destroyed everyone in the tournament as expected and then afterwards there was a line from the table all the way to the back of the bar to pull him. He said Brzenk would just ask them if they wanted to be slammed or if they wanted to try for a while before losing. He said he wasn't even cocky about it he was just asking because a lot guys had family members filming it. He said it was just ridiculous because it was after Brzenk had won the whole tournament and not
only was there nobodies from the bar in line but almost every AW from the tourny in line too. He said nobody was even close.

The primal moments thread...so much good faggotry contained in one spot...

Big weak dude (-Big Chris 30/ M/ 6'3/ 287, Snatch-185, C&J 255, OHS 205, FS 275, Fran 8:10, 5k Row- 18:04, BS: 375, SP: 165, DL: 425, CF Total: 965lbs)my personal favorite is doing front squats and on your last rep, on the way up you just shoot the bar up as far you can and step back to watch it drop
weird i know.
Tucson faggot:Great idea on the thread.
I like getting to the point where I am sucking wind so hard it hurts and then taking a deep breath and getting out one more effort laden rep. Heart Pumping, Chest Heaving, Guttural Noises coming from who knows where? Then, lockout or whatever makes that last rep a food one and calling out TIME!!!
That just feels good to me.
Non-hot chick:I like dropping bumpers.
1. Usually you can't drop stuff in real life without breaking it.
2. The sound of it crashing to the floor reminds me just how much awesome I was lifting!
Another Asian:Yeah! Dumping weights from overhead rocks. As did doing Eva in the rain (and cold) - that made me feel very hardcore!! And deadlifts definitely bring out some strange groans and the feeling that "I Can Lift Heavy Things". Too much fun!!
Is "sook" a typo or a racial slur I should familiarize myself with?last night when my trainer called me a sook and p**** when I kept putting the bar down on my cleans and thrusters....
then i got mad and managed to finish the rest of the set unbroken...
i threw up later...after the session and i was outside of the gym...
This guy
Call me a skeptic but I am doubting beastliness.I'm not sure I know what "primal" means, but...
-collapsing after Fran, Elizabeth, 50, or FGB and feeling your soul starting to leave your body, then laughing hysterically for no reason
-bloody shins after deadlifting
-Performing an absolutely beastly display of strength in front of a large group of women, then walking away like it's no big deal
Skinny Army faggot:
Had one a while back when I did my first 50m underwater. I kept swallowing while swimming, and it got to the point where I felt totally hollow. Touch the final wall, pop up and take a deep breath. It went straight to my head, highest I've ever been. The lifeguard forgot I was there (never did underwaters with her around again...)
Another good one was setting up my bar off to the side of the platform for Grace, because a group of females were doing stiff-legged deadlifts on the platform. In the space of one of their rest periods, I crank through 30 clean and jerks, put my weights away, and walk out like nothing happened.
