I had a GREAT laugh at that one... nothing screams overtraining like doing a lot of assistance work for lifting along with long metcons.
Here is a sample day:
ME Lower Body:
Reverse Band Deadlifts (hanging green band)
Do sets of 5′s, 3′s working up to a max single.
Assistance:
Pull Throughs 3×20
Bent Rows 3×8
Hanging Leg Raises 3×10
MetCon:
20, 15, 10 reps of:
Thruster 95/65#
Burpee Pull ups
ok... let's assume these idiots are lifting raw... IMO reverse band shit has no place in a raw lifters arsenal. If you need more bottom-end/floor work, fucking do deficit pulls.
Assistance work is good, nothing shabby about that one. But then to add thrusters and burpee pullups after it all for a conditioning workout is kind of stupid. Kind of is a nice way to put it.... its as retarded as shit.
They have a combo of WSBB with other principles... its a case of trying to mix it all up into a blender and come out with a winner, but instead what comes out is no fucking real direction.
If you want to do DE/ME with metcons you REALLY have to lower the assistance work down to account for recovery. Doing a full PL-type template and then blowing out some 400m runs with some power cleans isn't the best idea for long term training health.
When I do strength biased programming for my online clients who still want to be fit, the conditioning workouts are short, simple, basic and never include 400m runs and nothing longer than 12 minutes. In fact that vast majority of their conditioning workouts are from 3-8 minutes in duration and many of them are interval based.
This webpage throws in the CFT in the middle of the WSBB template..... sorry, bad idea.
I fucking hate @fit... its beyond rational, I want to spit on the people who programmed this shit.
