Re: Kettlebells for Running

There may be a trainer who knows how to use kbs as an effective interval training tool. But I don’t know how to use them to improve running other than doing lots of swings and one armed work when the weather is too bad to run.
OTOH, running is fantastic for GS athletes.

Re: Steve Maxwell Advices

Maxwell is such a hardo has he ever smiled? I liked the article and agree with it. Unless you're on something, it's hard to gain muscle as you get older. I'm 49 and have seen strength drop over the last 5 years. Nothing major, but it's noticeable. 49 has been very hard on the strength. I’ve found I...

Re: Making the shift to early a.m. training

it is really horrible for about 2 weeks. just keep doing it. The last time I switched to mornings it took about a month. Omg it was awful. But once it stuck it stuck. I won't do it any other way now. I have to get my workout in the bank before breakfast. And there's something peaceful about knowing...

Re: Training your tween/teen boys

as kids, my brothers and i played sports in season--football, basketball, swimming, wrestling ice hockey, tennis, baseball. there were no computers. we walked everywhere in our residential neighborhood, roved in packs, and played games--formal, informal, making up rules and arguing as we went along...

Re: Training your tween/teen boys

My 15 year old has never been interested in athletics. Not even a little. Last school year my wife and I found out he'd quit academic team and robotics team. We told him we didn't care what he did, but he had to choose something (drama, band, a sport, whatever). He'd just finished tactical pistol le...

Shit, shit, and shit. I liked him and liked his music. RIP. He said: there are as many ways to songs as there are songs. Walk the baby. Let your wife sleep. Try and sleep when you can. Meditate or do something for stress relief. Do that for 6 months and then ask about your training. Seriously. This^^^. Sometimes do the calisthenics or kb exercises of your choice throughout the day as a caffeine substitute. This is ti...

Re: Do you think you have a soul?

I get agnosticism. Saying you honestly don't know is a legitimate answer. Atheism and its certainty can be every bit as fundamentalist and intellectually dishonest as any other religious tradition. You don't know if you have a soul or not. You can believe it. You can disbelieve it. But you don't kno...

There's a reason he's paid to write down his thoughts. When's the last time someone paid you for yours? . This morning....literally 20 seconds ago...and for the balance of the day...and tomorrow...and sadly for the foreseeable future. Poetic blathering is wonderful....for the blatherer...for most o...

Re: Do you think you have a soul?

Yeah, I do. I think we all have something near to whatever your definition of a soul is. And this is about as mystical as you'll ever hear me get. Because I tell stories for a living, I've spent a lot of time thinking about the concept of story. On those occasions where I'm paid to teach writing, I...
