proper comparison is burning of nat gas vs burning of coal.
i expect you know that, gene, but you'd rather be a dick.

Careful DMW. Gene is an expert on methane.

A herd of gassy goats may have grounded a freighter plane en route to Kuala Lumpur last week... The craft was transporting a herd of more than 2,000 goats so flatulent they may have produced enough methane gas to trigger the [fire] alarm

October 2015 now stands as the month with hottest above-normal temperatures ever recorded.
Last month broke previous records by a third of a degree, according to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. Global land surface averages in October were 2.39 Fahrenheit above the 20th century average. The month's freakish warmth represented "the greatest departure from average for any month in the 1630 months of recordkeeping," according to NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information.

It's time again for all "rerspectable" scientists to submit their requests for mo taxpayer money to fund their bullshit propaganda for next year.dead man walking wrote:October 2015 now stands as the month with hottest above-normal temperatures ever recorded.

They should find a nation responsible for the warming and start a war.dead man walking wrote:October 2015 now stands as the month with hottest above-normal temperatures ever recorded.

Sarcasm aside, let's consider the statement with a bit of attention. Change of 1 degree Celsius equals 1.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Meaning that increase by "a third of a degree" Fahrenheit equals 0.16 Celsius. Nobody would notice that if their body temperature increased by that much. On the other hand, I am sure a qualified climate scientist can explain the reasons why an increase of this magnitude in Arizona or Australia (let alone Greenland or Newfoundland) can prove fatal to the humankind.
Averages can play mind games on people. This summer in Sydney so far has been pretty underwhelming; not many days warm enough to go to the beach. However, two days ago temperatures hit 41 C (105.8 F), record high for so many whatever. It fell right to 23 (73.4) by ten at night, and in the morning it was pretty chilly. A max hit like this will shift average temperature to the right, but the resulting number will not be telling much about the weather. Journalists get easily excited, but lack intelligence and attention span to look at the numbers critically. As do most of those reading their creative pieces.
And still, even though I agree that the weather is getting warmer, I am looking for credible argument for the anthropogenic cause of that.

Methane is a much more efficient "greenhouse gas" than CO2. About thirty times more. While it has a shorter half life than CO2 it has quite a lot of persistence when coupled with the volume that is being produced today.dead man walking wrote:proper comparison is burning of nat gas vs burning of coal.

Maybe I'm a "dick" but at least I can see a Corporate Whore when I see one. I'm referring to Obama, who is a slave to General Electric, one of the biggest manufacturers of gas turbines on the planet.
DMW is just an ideologue.

I'm still waiting for the Nobel Prize for Chemistry or Physics for this "science". Figure I'm gonna be waiting a long time. Cause the science is shitty.

Nobel Prize is a political enterprise, not really a reward for science. Pretty much like Oscar's for the movies. What did Al Gore get for his movie? Was it Nobel Prize for Peace?

Re: hot enough for ya?
Gore got a peace prize. So did Obama. So did the IPCC. Peace prizes, not prizes for Physics or Chemistry.Sangoma wrote:Nobel Prize is a political enterprise, not really a reward for science. Pretty much like Oscar's for the movies. What did Al Gore get for his movie? Was it Nobel Prize for Peace?
If the science human caused climate change so settled and so critical to the future of the planet then the Nobel Prize committee needs to recognize the science with a prize in Chemistry or Physics. The silence of the Nobel Prize committee about this topic speaks volumes. They ain't buying the science, because the science is shoddy, immature or bogus.

we have had a pleasant and mild october and november. thanks for asking.
the ticks were thick, though. the dogs and the wife would each have 3 or 4 on them when they came back from their daily walk in the woods.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/2 ... 75699.htmlAn ancient forest has thawed from under a melting glacier in Alaska and is now exposed to the world for the first time in more than 1,000 years.
Stumps and logs have been popping out from under southern Alaska's Mendenhall Glacier — a 36.8-square-mile (95.3 square kilometers) river of ice flowing into a lake near Juneau — for nearly the past 50 years. However, just within the past year or so, researchers based at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau have noticed considerably more trees popping up, many in their original upright position and some still bearing roots and even a bit of bark, the Juneau Empire first reported last week.
It's never been hotter. Oh, wait. It has.

are you just now discovering the earth once was warmer?
and because it once was warmer, it couldn't be mankind who today is causing the current increase in global temperatures?

Pointing out that climate change is natural. And waiting for the Anointed Ones to let us know what temperature the earth is supposed to be.

Ain't no such thing as Nobel Prize caliber work from Climate Scientists either.
