Re: The couch thread
This shit is actually pretty good! http://www.byersgetsdiesel.com/2008/12/are-you-crossfit-enough.html This is what I call the “CrossFit Enough” mentality. If you’re not swearing and spitting and falling down puking, if you don’t literally kick your clients in the ass, if you can’t train side-by-si...

Go to your local Target and get one of these + broom/pvc inside, and you're good: http://www.racedaynutrition.com/feature ... oller.aspx

http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=47451 Check it out -- recently we, at CFLA, were visited by Leyon and his brother Leroy. They were both collegiate football players and are currently training to be heavyweight boxers. They train in a gym almost 6 hours every day. This is a video of the...

Re: The couch thread
There's nothing inherently dangerous about the Olympic press if performed correctly - there are however, things inherently dangerous with CrossFit, despite how much they try to convince themselves otherwise. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HbaApmpa-Po/ShoOC7Evi3I/AAAAAAAABSk/x-lPZL3fQNo/s1600-h/one.jpg M...

Isn't the slop=technique just a modern version of the 50's Olympic press controversy?
Minus actual strength.

Re: The couch thread
That's one thing I don't get. Rip vehemently advocates NOT using reps above 3 in any of the olympic lifts (power versions included) because of form breakdown...and Crossfit serves to be one of the best examples of that. Don't think he's been asked that question over on StrengthMill yet.

Re: The couch thread
http://games.crossfit.com/athletes/be-afraidbe-very-afraid.html An exchange between Couch and "Dave from Chatanooga Crossfit". Notice how quickly the ass-kissery and apologism comes out; also shows Couch's view on steroids a bit...seems that as long as no one's caught, he doesn't care: Not...

Re: The couch thread
I honestly thought you guys were being typical IGX exaggerative assholes with calling Crossfit a cult...but Jesus Christ: Well.... Calling CF a rip-off is over the line. Does CF borrow training ideas from numerous fields? Of course, and that's part of its genius. Why reinvent the wheel when a number...

Re: Basic Barbell Training: Starting Strength Vol. 2
Copying most of this from my training log. I started the program actually from Mad Cow's website, but about the second week of training I received the book Basic Barbell Training and helped use it to guide my training. I did Mad Cow's intermediate training, which is SIMILAR to the Texas method in Pr...

Basic Barbell Training: Starting Strength Vol. 2
Basic Barbell Training: Starting Strength Vol. 2 Mark Rippetoe and Lon Kilgore Excellent book. Rippetoe is obviously very knowledgable when it comes to weight lifting and the physiological components/nature of the lifts. There are many, many diagrams of musculature and movement of the lifts themselv...
