Re: Mad Men

Some MM ramblings: As I've mentioned, I've been "binge watching" Mad Men. I DVR'd this latest season and I'm watching from the beginning, now up to season 2 on DVD. (Just saw the weird stuff where Glenn, the kid from down the block, comes over to gawk at Betty Draper.) I also just watched ...

Re: Mad Men

No worries on the spoilers. Sharing your, " Now I realize I'm way more into this show than an adult male should be," affliction, I read the Wikipedia entry for "Don Draper." I got the whole false identity thing. Very strange aspect of the story. I don't know if that is "mere...

Re: Mad Men

I am simultaneously watching the latest episodes and semi-binge-watching from season 1, for the first time. So, you are referencing some stuff I've not seen, but I really don't care about spoilers, etc. Even knowing, in some episodes, what is coming, I still enjoy how it unfolds in the storytelling....

Re: Mad Men

Yeah, I really liked that walking-into-the-meeting-uninvited move as well ! Still, there was something about the other ad exec saying to Don, "You think this is going to help you?" juxtaposed against Ginsberg losing it, that made me think that they are trying to show Don spiraling down the...

Re: Mad Men

Shape, if you saw it Sunday night, read on. If not ***SPOILER ALERT*** When Ginsberg (I think that's his name,) goes nuts, cuts his nipple off, and has to be carried out of the office, in restraints on a stretcher, do you see that as any kind of "crash and burn" foreshadowing for Draper in...

Re: The American: Season 2 thread.

it's all going to lead to Philip and Elisabeth being turned. He's getting sick of what he is doing, he seems to have his doubts about what he is serving and then there is the issue of his children. And that's where Elizabeth will start to come around. The most telling scene in the whole show was in...

Thanks and R.I.P. to Jeremiah Denton

I had not heard of this Morse Code story until yesterday: (Footage of the "blinking interview" described below is readily available on YouTube. I was having difficulty posting the video here. Following is from NYTimes.com) http://nyti.ms/1rLAqNb The prisoner of war had been tortured for 10...

Re: Undeniable rules of life - break them at your own risk

Batboy had some rules that would work here, along the lines of, "...if you hang out with thugs, expect the negative consequences that usually follow, etc." Also, IIRC, Sua Sponte posted some good ones on the "Fake Ranger" thread, dealing with taking responsibility. Hopefully they...

Is there any chance that the people in Terminus aren't cannibals? Wow, that is one creepy but excellent prediction. I'm thinking especially of the lady who greets the arriving group and says we'll be "fixing you a meal." http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_OrxZB0WKNI/T3WKi_UNnTI/AAAAAAAAEW0/rBC4G6...

Bats, if you have not already done so, you may wish to consider acknowledging Steve Rogers directly for the qualities you've praised here. A few words from you, with your military, athletic and business-world experience, could mean a great deal to him. That one idea to ponder. My concerns 1) I don'...

I echo the kudos to the young "Mac" (from Charles Atlas ads,) a/k/a, for our purposes here, "Steve Rogers." Besides the sense of awe one can experience when witnessing something extraordinary, from a more mundane practical view, it would be amazing to know HOW he acquired his GRIT.

Re: Forget about SONS! Let's Watch Some Justified!!!!

You know what I like about Justified the best? The writers can get a laugh from you damn near any time. Yep. The series is based on a story by the late Elmore Leonard. Hollywood must have made a dozen movies based on Elmore books, but almost none of them seemed to see the sly humor in the man's boo...

Acknowledge that boys are falling behind at all levels of education; particularly lower income boys from single parent families. Also, Acknowledge boys are more likely to be rowdy and break rules. They are not girls and can't be treated as such. Have outlets available to drain off excess physical e...

Re: Kettlebell Simple & Sinister

Is S&S the old wine of ETK in a new bottle ? Seriously, I've been asked for some help by someone unconditioned to help them start exercising. I think I need to keep it real simple. (The sinister is not necessary.) I have a copy of ETK somewhere. Is S&S any different? Better ? Thanks.
